I was at my mom and dad's one day and they asked me if there was anything I wanted from their house what would it be. I told them I wanted mom's Featherweight. My dad went right downstairs and got it for me. My mom has since passed away. My sisters took jewelry and others things but I have the Featherwieght. I'm not sure where my mom got the Featherweight. I don't use it that much because I have two other machines I use, but I have it sitting out to look at and think of my mom everytime I see it.

I've had mine for about 30-40 years. My Mom (95) bought it for her Mother and the two of them used it to earn extra money by working at home for Lovable Brassiere company. They would sew little tabs on the bra straps and send them back to the company in a bundle. That was my first exposure to sewing as they would let me sew the tabs (what we call sting piecing now.) My mom kept the machine for years and after I married, she gave it to me. I have the case and all the attachments. Love it and wouldn't part with it for all the tea in China.

I got my 1st and only 2 so far from ebay.they are lovely.

My Featherweight was my Christmas present from my Mom & Dad in 1972 when I was 12 years old. Through the years I've used it a lot & at times not at all. It is now the machine I use for quilting classes. A 1947 model, she still sews just as good as the day I got her.

I got mine at a auction on goodwill.com and it is being delivered tomorrow! I have bought machines here before and never had a problem with them. I am so excited!

I inherited mine from a friend who passed on. She'd bought it new in 1951...she (the machine) is a beautiful old girl, in mint condition, and boy, can she "sing!"

I bought my first FW when I was in England in 1997. The friend I was staying with bought a white one and offered it to me. I didn't want to be greedy so said "no thanks". Bad mistake. I finally bought a new motor for mine at the Lancaster Quilt Show about 3 years ago and have finally started using it. I LOVE it. Wish I'd been wiser years ago.

Got mine off of E-bay last year. It's the mint green (almost white)one and I just love my "Baby". Was really scared that she wouldn't sew as well as I was hopeing, but she does. Case, manual, cord, foot pedal, needles and attachments all came with her. Seller was cleaning out his mom's house and put it up for sale; came from NY and he said she "mom" came from Germany, but no other details. Just love looking at my "Baby" and sewing on her too. Just finished a king size quilt and pieced almost all of it and back too with her.

I have 2 that I got at yard sales. The first one was only used a few times and was in perfect condition. When we drove up, my heart almost stopped. I tried not to run to it or act too excited. I almost fainted when I saw the price tag.....$15.00. Can you believe, I didn't even try to get her to come down. :lol: My second came from a yard sale, but was not out. I just asked if they had a sewing machine that they might want to sell. It was in a barn and again I almost fainted when I saw the little black box. It has a little ware, but was also a steal...$75.00. Now I have one for each granddaughter. Lucky girls. :thumbup:

Have you tried putting one foot a little behind the other on the treadle? Putting you feet together gives you the "loping" or start and stop sewing. I laugh at these movies that show some lady sewing that way. Can tell she never used a treadle for long. LOL
