    Agree with most others ... way too expensive for this "quality"
    workmanship. And even if stitching tension seems correct to
    the quilter, I find it is best to use same color thread on top
    and backing side. But "birdnests and loose threads" are
    an absolute no,no... even for a beginner!

    If I didn't know better, I'd think it was the same lady who did my two for my DGD's. My pattern is "Card Tricks" so I am stitching in the ditch around all the large squares, and backround material. Then I'll see if I need to add more. I could have done that in the first place. Don't know what to tell you, because I didn't want to go back to the same lady. Good luck.

    By the way, I love the Southwest Material.

    was that amount of money for just quilting??if so that is a lot of money,,i quilt for myself and my mom and i have done quilting for a coupleof people and i have only charged them 100.00 each quilt and i furnished the batting,,,,she made a lot and did a bad job

    Tension can make or break a quilt. It is obvious she had issues with her tension. I never would have been satisfied letting that out my door.

    When a friend of mine started her long arm business. I gave her some quilts to do for pratice. she did 21 Red white and blue quilts for us and we never had a problem with any of her work.
    These were some of her first quilts.
    Also I have never paid the amount you did. When I have had a quilt done.. Make her make it right. If she is a new quilter and she was having trouble with the tenson. She should have been checking it as she went.

    Very sorry to hear about that. I do hope you can resolve the matter with her. I am about ready to start quilting on a king size quilt, and I have already decided to quilt it on my personal sewing machine, and draw out the pattern to be sure that I don't mess this quilt up. I don't know how one would be able to repair the work done, but then again, I'm getting close to being one year into quilting. That is so a fear of mine- doing all of this work on a quilt, and it looks like a mess. Seriously, talk to her and she what she says. There is no way she can continue to justify her prices if she does this job.

    Does this 'not clue quilter' work for the LQS? I would inform the shop owner of her sloppy work. I can't believe the shop wouldn't know of her sad workmenship and still let her continue to represent the shop. Work there are not the shop should see her work and have her not associated with their business at all. I would be very upset with this work. It's plain she's in it just for the money. The local LA here charge $65 for those big loopy loops and she furnishes cotton batting and the thread color you want. She says big loops are for utility quilts and she will tell you they aren't attractive on a quilt, just utilitarian. Don't settle for this work for the price you paid. She should refund everything but the cost of the thread and batting. Her time wasn't worth a dime.

    I am curious if you had seen some of her quilting before you hired her to quilt your tops. It doesn't really matter, now that they are quilted, she certainly owes you and any customer a job satisfactory to you or a refund. I would certainly talk to her and give her the chance to correct the problems and/or offer you a refund.

    I feel your pain-I had a similar experience once. My suggestion would be to speak with her about your unhappiness over the poor quality of work and tension problems. Who knows, with good constructive criticism she may challenge herself to gain professional skills and reduce her fee while still learning. Here's opportunity for a win-win, she learns from the experience and you get cash back for a less than perfect quilting job. Having her redo the work may still not get you your desired outcome.

    What have others done in the past with a similar situation? I know having plenty of backing, batting, and a good squared up quilt is important for longarm quilters.
