A quilt shop quandary...what would you do?
#71
My DIL has owned a number of quilt shops and I do know that the quilt shops get the best of the fabric runs. It looks like the owner accidently received an end of the run. She, I'm sure will replace the piece and let the sales people know to watch for this in the future.

I would take it back also. The owner needs to know and correct the issue. I hate to have to do stuff like that, too, but
if I were the owner, I'd certainly want to be informed of any problems with purchases, whether the shop's or supplier's.

I agree that the shop owner should be made aware. If the store is a distance away you might want to handle it with an email including the attached pictures. I understand that you might not want to ask for a replacement, but if it is as good as my local Quilt Shops they will make sure it is made right. Mistakes happen and we learn from them. If she bought this as a pre-cut, she will make sure in the future there are no such problems with the products from this vendor or switch vendors. If she had it cut by staff she will make sure they are educated about the problem.

I'd agree - mail it back it if is not local with a letter and precede it with a phone call to mgr. Otherwise trot in there and do a show and tell! Good luck. And while you're at it, make sure they give you one which is somewhat within a stones throw of the right size! I just bought a set of eight fats at Jinny Beyer and one of them was so off square I couldn't get what I needed from it for my pattern.
