You could also tie from the top but don't cut the threads; run the thread between fabric layers to the next tie point, etc. I'd use a long craft needle to do this. The ties will hold the sandwich together but the knots will not detract from the beauty (and hard work) of all those hexies.

And I agree - baby and quilt are adorable.

Oooo now that's a good idea Shirley - just tried on my sample piece. I could actually hand tied each and every intersection that way which would be lots of work but look great. With a kind of ombre effect of colours as I go down the quilt....Now I can't decide!

Oh and P.S. Thank you on behalf of Persephone (my little girl) for all the comments about how lovely she is. I obviously agree but then I'm biased! She loves the quilt too. Especially the one sparkly hexagon I put in for her to find! She finds it almost immediately every time I put her on it!

Great job, great color choices, you did good and it looks like that baby likes those colors and shapes! I agree, hand tie it will do the job. :-)

This is really an impressive quilt for your first attempt. Tying the quilt will work...just don't use sewing thread. Use embroidery cotton or pearl cotton. Something a little thicker.

I'm allergic to many battings so I always bind the quilt before I do the quilting. May not be "right" but it works fine for me. No quilt police at my door.

I would tie on the back, little fingers can get into tiny places. I would be tempted to baste it and try to cross hatch quilt using the hexes as guides. Beautiful quilt
