I for one won't be renewing any of my magazine subscriptions - I find there are more ads in them than patterns lately. Besides, with this wonderful board and all the free pattern sites on the internet, who needs to pay for magazines. :)

I went through all my magazines and took out any and all the patterns I thought I might make in my life time. I put them in plastic sleeves, and organized them in different categories and put them in a wooden crate I have. I buy a magazine once in while during a weak moment. :roll:

I let all of my subscriptions run out because there was too much overlap between the mags AND too much advertisement.

I buy a quilt magazine every now and then - the suggestion to find a quilt book/books at your library is a good idea. Our library pools their books with several other towns around the area - have a lot more books to play with

I really like Better Homes and Gardens American Patchwork and Quilting. It's got great articles and different color options for their quilt patterns. This is the only one I have time for and I find it is enough. Good luck.

I've subscribed to many different magazines over the years...the only two I've kept up subscriptions on are Quiltmaker and For the Love of Quilting. Since I've seen so many others say Quilter's World, I may have to try that again!

I really like Better Homes& Garden quilting magazine,plus they have an email newsletter available that is awesome. I also like Quilt plus Fons & Porter. I've gotten my older sister into quilting (in another state) & she has given me a lot of positive feedback about BetterHomes&Garden being the best magazine for her as a new quilter. Hope that helps! I disagree with everyone! I still find it useful to sit with a nice glass of wine or cup of tea and relax with a pile of magazines. I dream about what I might make and it's usually an adaptation of something I've seen in several magazines all together. I love American Patchwork and Quilting for the variety of skill levels it covers. I also like Quiltmaker for its very clear patterns. This is a journey, and everyone learns differently. You might just get a few every few months until you settle on one or two you rely on. Some magazines don't appear on our newsstands locally so I find I have to subscribe.
