I used the Eleanor Burn ruler for mine. It comes with very helpful instructions. I can't get to mine right now to give you the exact name of the ruler. The helpful advice I was given was not to make the scallops too "deep". In other words a soft curve, especially for your first ones so that it is easier to sew on the binding. I was so excited about how mine turned out! I never thought I would be able to do a scallop border. Good luck with yours!

The most important tip is -attach the bias binding BEFORE cutting the scalloped edge!

For my Jane Stickle I did the MSQC method. Make sure you have made bias binding - there are many methods of making it continuous so you don't have to join while applying it. I did not have a special tool of any kind, the quilt allowed for each scallop to be the width of one block and a saucer helped to mark the amount of curve.

The sewing method of pulling the binding and edge of quilt straight as you sew the binding on really makes it easy and is shown on the latter half of the video. I had never done one before but found this very easy! I did nick slightly the seam allowance where the "valleys" are which allows for the straightening of the edge. There are quite a few tutorials on the internet! Go for it and good luck!

Eleanor Burns has a great scallop ruler with a color booklet included.

You draw on your scallops on the border(I use my Frixion pen) . You sew your bias binding on following the line. After you are satisfied with how the binding is on, then you can cut the border away for the scallops and hand sew the binding to the back.
If you try to put your bias binding on already cut scallops, the bias edges of the scallops are going to stretch as you sew on the binding.

I was taught to have the quilting all done first. Then I use freezer paper, the length of the sides of the quilt. I cut my freezer paper strips in 4-6" strips depending on how deep scallops I am making. Then I accordion fold the freezer paper to the size of 3-4 scallops. Draw the scallops on, cut the curves. Unfold, press to the edge of quilt. I then can either draw them onto the quilt or just use the freezer paper edges to follow to add my binding. There are many tutorials for making & binding scallops.
