Keep asking questions! Even if someone asked the question yesterday and you didn't catch everything, ask again. The quilters on this board have a wealth of wisdom and are willing to help you!

I think you'll find this site VERY helpful. I have been quilting for a while and have only taken two classes - -years ago. There are some things I don't think I would have understood unless I had tried them. Now when I see something, it hits me - - Ah Ha!! So that's what that means!! or So, that's how you do that. This site had been very helpful and you can ask anything and find someone who knows how to do that.

A book I found extremely helpful (I too am self taught) was the 'Quilt with Confidence" by Nancy Zeiman.
She takes you step by step thru the process. I highly recommend it. You can find it at Joann's or at her website - www.nancysnotions.com

I love watching her TV show "Sewing with Nancy" - I have learned so much from her

I too am self taught. I have learned so much here.
The one thing I want to add is don't hurry. Take your time. That is my biggest issue.

It is really nice to hear some of the comments on using "Quilt In a Day books. Take heed! Eleanor Burns is my idol. She is an ex-teacher who uses a lot of elementary (basic) techniques & tools. Go online at quiltinaday.com! I have used her books for the last 6 years! Her books are easy and gives you a lot of techniques. I also do thnk that you should take 1 Begginner class. Simple techniques are taught in these classes! I learn a lot of short cuts!

I love Eleanor Burn because when I follow her patterns things come out as perfect as I can get them. Her shows are free on her website. She has taught me so much.

Don't buy too many books or you will not take the time to read up on what you are going to try. I know, its happened to me, I would spend all my time reading and no quilt making.
Give me a book and pictures and I can figure out most things, that is how I have learned most of what I know.
