I'm not defending Singer but any machine made for discount stores including Brother, are made very cheaply and very fast. Quality control is random so a lemon will more than likely be the norm instead of the rare. Some buy them and they last for years, it's the luck of the draw. The high end Singer and Brother machines are very nice. I don't understand why they have the lower quality with the brand name, a bad machine will turn away customers from that brand for life.

I have a singer, and it gets really picky if there is very little lint in the bobbin case... the thread was getting caught up in the bobbin hook, and that little bit of lint was the culprit...one time it was the tiniest snippet of thread that fell in there.

Do you still have your reciept? That's proof of purchase and they should honor it.
it's worth a try. but you know the old 3 & 30 rule.... when something good happens...you tell 3 people ... something bad you tell 30.
Singer doens't like bad publicity....especially the individual businesses...
