It definitely does sound like a nice touch ...
........ with all of that personalization that you did for the wedding quilt.

Could you possibly post a photo to show what you have done?

I think I understand what you have done .... but not sure!

I helped at one big quilt show by folding and holding quilts for the judges. The labels , if any, were never covered. A national quilt show I think a label would have to be covered. Too many well known quilters who win would be known to the judges.

My first thought was a worry about the wear, also. Bindings get a lot of stress and sometimes fail.
Somewhere along the line, I learned about putting the label on before the quilting. That way the label is also quilted making it more difficult to steal the quilt and remove the label.

My Bernina has a lettering program and I sign most of my quilts on the binding using this method.

I've always machine embroidered my info on the binding. I can "write" as much as I want on there and special people I give them to, love to see what their binding says. ☺️

Thanks for showing me, Ube!!!
.......... that was what I was thinking the others were meaning, but just wasn't sure.
I can see that it would take a clear head to make sure that it got onto the fabric/binding in the right place for stitching the binding in place.

I'm going to have to try this sometime ..... and see if I have the patience, not only for creating the letterwork, but getting it in the right place to fancy up the binding!

I see many old (older) quilts in the museum where I work and the bindings are often the first part worn out.
