Your work is exceptional, the best thing is, the art will not be lost because you teach. Thank you for sharing your work with us.

I really hope so! But to be honest: I have never heard that only one single student of my workshops has ever made a wholecloth....so I'm afraid there won't be any new made examples of this special kind of quilts. The traditional patterns will only be kept in museums and collections and are not longer used. But we will see! Maybe I'm wrong!

I'm sure there will be a resurgence of wholecloth, look how popular quilting has gotten in the last 20 years.

That is true. But Patchwork and all available variations offer so many possibilities to be creative! Wholecloth Quilting, especially by hand, is very time consuming and many don't have the time and the patience to do it. But we will see!

I certainly hope it continues, it is definitely an art. I would do it if I could, hands won't let me, neither will my attention span, I have to see progress. I have a friend that does all her quilts by hand, they are amazing, but she doesn't do whole cloth. She says she has always wanted to do one, but never gets around to it.
