I have a Nustyle quilting machine and I am having trouble threading the machine. Once it gets to the tension knob, I don't know where to put the thread. Any idea on how to thread it sucessfully?

i dont know how to thread your machine , but this is what i do , once i have it threaded and i want to put in new thread i break the thread by the spool and i tie the new thread on and pull it all the way threw to the needle and than i have it all threaded , just a way to cheat.

Here is a link to a page on their website. There is an e-mail address and a phone number. I would contact them and see if they can supply you with an owners manual. Maybe they can even e-mail you a picture of the thread path. I'm with Scrappy Happy..once I get it threaded, I just tie on the end and pull the new thread thru. I learned that on my serger. Can you upload a picture of the area you're having trouble with? Most of the Nustyle machines I've seen are really Juki's so someone familiar with Juki should be able to help & most machines are threaded similarly anyway so I'm sure we can figure it out.

I have a nustyle 228 - I will try to explain mine.
Go around the tension and catch the wire then go under the metal hook - up to the eye and then back down to the needle
There are several thread guides that the slips under.
Hope this helps.

Here is a picture of what I believe is the trouble spot and then a poor quality picture of the instruction book. I am going to try to work with the tenson screw and see if this helps too.

I can't see the second picture. It's too blurry but from the first picture it appears that you are threading it sort of backwards. The thread should be coming down from above through the tension dial up to the hook above it or possibly the one next to it and then to the one above. It's very similar to my Voyager so I'll go take a picture of it and compare. Be right back!

Ok. On mine, the thread comes down after being run through a 3 hole bar from above around and through the tension dial then it goes over to the left under the long metal hook and then up to the little metal flange, then through the takeup lever and over to the other little metal flange, then down to a wire guide just above the needle before passing through the needle from nose end toward the harp.

Also, if your's takes industrial needles like mine, you have to look at them closely to make sure you get them turned correctly. There is a "scarf" or little carved out area in front of the eye. If you put the needle in backwards--it will shred the thread and possibly nick the bobbin race.

Maybe I got it threaded correctly. Maybe. I won't know for sure until I can figure out how to slow the speed down. I have tried everything I know and nothing is working. It comes on so fast that I cannot take a stitch to pull up the bobbin thread. I am just about to give up...

You might have one of those machines where you have to manually adjust the speed and you do a needle up/down by quickly turning it on/off. It all depends on what kind of controls it came with. Hopefully it has some sort of handle bars on the "nose" with a box that has a dial and a button or two. Post some more pictures and maybe we can tame this beast for you or contact Nustyle and see if they have some more detailed instructions. They may also have upgrades for it that will make your learning curve easier.
