We are taking a trip to Marshalls in Batesville next weekend and hope to find the fabric I need. I am still gonna play around with different aspects of the quilt but I DO need more fabric----let me re-phrase that - Of all the fabric I have, would you believe that I do NOT have the colors that I need in this quilt?? oh well, who DOESN"T like fabric shopping - especially in Batesville? Thanks again for your feedback.

I agree with trueimage. Leave out the 4 extra blocks from the center and just have a cross. That should cut down on the busy effect.

Is this better? - I'll try later - it didn't work.

I think the center is a little too busy also. I think a center medallion that's a larger version of the 3/4 medallions in the corners would be pretty... Like your color selections a lot! Please post pictures of your progress.

IMHO the center is still too busy. Your eye is drawn in too many directions and the effect is uncomfortable.

I'd use a full sized mariner's compass like the ones in the corners as a centerpiece. Otherwise great idea.
