    Default Treadling Exercise?

    All you treadle machiners, tell me true. If I get a treadle will it help my legs. I have poor circulation and need to walk each day or my legs ache to the point that I can't sleep. Will treadling help?

    I'm sure it will help because the movement and action of working the treadle will help the blood flow. Unfortunately no fitness app will put treadle sewing as a possible exercise.

    It might be a fun addition to your walking program but I don't think it would be a replacement. Piecing quilts involves mostly short lengths therefore it's lots of start, stop, start, stop.

    The only time I did enough treadling to qualify as exercise was when I sewed for several hours every day for three weeks straight. I was in a rush to finish some rag quilts for last minute Christmas gifts. My calves would be sore by the end of the day but would be fine the next morning.

    I also have leg problems. I've increased my B and magnesium amounts Plus I've started using lemongrass oil in the calf muscles. You can also use it on the bottom of your feet.
    P.S. I'm diabetic.
    Somebody I know pieced a whole top in a weekend and s did to much ending in Lots of pain.....so if you do pace yourself.

    A number of people use their treadle machinrs for FMQ- you’d probably get more exercise that way since there are fewe srarts and stops. Check out Tim Lattimer’s fmq videos on Youtube, nad thereks a woman who does gorgeous embroidery on her treadle...cankt remember her name now,...

    I've had restless legs since I had two transfusions when I was 12. I suffered for 54 years with the pain, embarasment and agony. Finally my brother, 4 years younger, also came down with restless legs and found a Dr. in Calif who did NOT think he was nuts as mine did. He got Pramiprexiole. It is a Parkinsons med and works.

    It has to be managed right. Find the right dose, as it will put you to sleep about 2 hours after taking it. So timing is essential. Decide when you want to go to sleep and it does curtail an evening out, but I never had a real evening out in the first place, so I don't mind this.

    Side effects that scared me was an increase in the desire to gamble. If I have a vice it would be the ponies. But I've learned to curtail it all and limit my bets to twenty-five cents. It works.

    I have neuropathy and have had it for 7 years. I got it when I was taking chemo and it never went away. I was on gabapentin - 12 - 300 ml per day. I found something called Max PR 35. You can order it off the internet. It is a spray and it does work. I have not taken gabapentin for 5 years and all I do is use the spray when I'm in pain. Soak in a hot bath with about 3 to 4 sprays. When I get out the pain is gone. When I wake up in the morning my legs feel like they are laying in fire. After I move around some it usually goes away. If it doesn't I grab the spray. Spray some in my hands rub them together and rub on my legs. Pain is gone instantly. I can't tell you how much I love this stuff. Would not have believed it if I hadn't tried it. All of you know if it hurts bad enough you will try just about anything. I am so grateful that I found it. The guy has a FB page and the last time I bought it it was $25 per 4oz bottle but the bottle does last a long time. When I first started using it I used it every few hours and now I use it once or twice a week.

    I'm not sure it would replace walking for your exercise, but it would give you more exercise than just sitting and pushing the foot control.
