I bought an ironing board pad and cover and used a towel on the board itself. I used a stapler and 1 1/4 inch staples to put the padding around the tv tray. It's great to have beside you when your doing a log cabin quilt.

Saw this on the other site, and already decided it would be my weekend project. Already have flat wooden TV trays that aren't being used. Fluffy towel, a little elastic around a piece of muslin and BINGO.
Great idea, just one of the housands of reasons I love this site.

I made one of those, put aluminum foil on the tray to help reflect heat, covered it with cotton batting and a muslin cover. LOVE it! Very handy next to the sewing machine.

I made me one of those, it sits to the right of my sewing chair, love to iron my blocks there, when I get one done. Handy for laying strips in order to sew them, or block pieces ...Sometimes, my pins, scissors, or seam ripper lay there. Just really handy. I love it...I put a layer of foil, 3 layers of batting, and then covered with fabric with elastic around the edges to hold it on, can take it off to laundry or etc. I used it a lot doing my log cabin quilt that I just finished up. Got my wooden tv tray at Walmart. When not using it, it folds up and stands at the end of my treadle singer out of the way...
