DH made me a small "ironing board" that's perfect for ironing 12-1/2" or smaller blocks. He cut a 14" square out of scrap plywood, and we covered it with a layer of Insulbrite, then a layer of cotton fabric to make it more attractive. I can stand it up in the floor beside my table when I'm not using it.
That little thing has come in SO handy!

You could turn one into an ironing table and the other one into a cutting table. Or, better yet you could make two removeable tops (one for cutting and one for ironing). The luggage racks might offer more flexibility

Hi! I bought one of the black plastic tv tables from Walmart. My dh cut a piece of thin plywood(about 1/8")to fit the top of the tray, then I layered silver ironing board fabric then followed by several layers of a heavy felt-like batting that I think is actually used to make dining room table pads. Then made a fitted cover for the board. So far, its worked fine.
It's great to have, and is just the right height to fit under my sewing table. It's out of the way but at the same time easy to get to when I need it. Chris

I added a fold out leaf to a desk I was using for sewing. Covered it with a beautiful flowered fabric. Then when I steam pressed something on it --- it faded on my project!!! Just a reminder - if you use printed fabric make sure it's color fast. I have a set of wooden TV trays and I think I'll make a covered board to sit on top of one so I'll still have a usable set.

I use a tv tray all the time. I put a ironing pad on one side and the other has a cutting mat. At a retreat I went to one of the shops had made a "mini" big board to fit the top of a wooden TV tray. It was a good idea, but the price was too steep. They wanted $68 for the top and Tv tray. I think I will ask dh to make one for me. A little bigger than what I have but not that much ($68) bigger.
