Virtual Quilting Weekend
#122
Snooze I made the bricks and stone pattern but used yellow instead of white. It ent together so easy since you don't have to match anything until you go to sew the rows together.
Keep up the good work everyone. I did nothing yesterday but will be getting to work in a little while.

Love reading and seeing all the progress! Sometimes a little motivation goes such a long way.
I will post some pics after I go workout. I made it to the gym 3 days so far and this will be my fourth day in a row. Pretty good after not going for two months so I dont want to stop. I put the white hexies around two of my trees for my Christmas tree skirt. Will post pics later......

Snooze, I'd love to see what you've done so far.... sounds pretty. I know how frustrating it can be when you have to adjust your quilt plans in the middle of a project. Argh!
Irish, the granny squares turned out nice. Like I said, the really like your alternating backgrounds. It really works out well.
I'm looking forward to seeing the progress you're all making this weekend. I love seeing the pictures. Okay, here's what I've accomplished so far this morning.
The Trials and Tribulations of Piecing a Quilt Back
I don’t usually do anything special for a quilt back. I look through my stash, find something that will coordinate and piece a couple of fabrics if I have to. But I’m up at the cabin… the stash is 10 hours away. So I went to the LQS yard sale a month ago and found this mid-century looking black fabric so I bought what was left on the bolt. But it wasn’t enough for the whole back. And it’s not the style I usually use. Good for this quilt going to an older teen but I needed to use all of it because I probably won’t use it for something else. And the blue I used needed to be all used up, too. So, after pondering most of the night instead of sleeping, this is what I came up with. The outer blue strips weren’t long enough without adding something else and I should have put the guitar fabric a little more off center but I’m not changing it now. And I used almost all the black squares and the blue. The 2nd picture is what’s left of those fabrics. Yeah!!
Now, I have to wait till the DH gets up so I can make the bed and sandwich this…. I always lay these out on the bed and pin it together. I’m really glad I joined you all this weekend…. I’m getting closer to getting this done. It’s been in my head a long time and needed to be finished.

Well just spent a long time catching up with all of you this morning. Some BEAUTIFUL things being shown and talked about !! Wow !!
Jeanne - love that pattern...i'm always looking for patterns that lend themselves to "guy" projects - and i think that one is perfect.
Krista --- i looked and looked at your star....are you doing rows that look like diamonds, or actual diamonds?? I have stayed away from diamonds - cuz the one time i tried it was a disaster...but as rows i think i could do it.
I finished up this morning....here are the 2 wedding quilts - finished and ready for the wash. They are approx 52 x 70...The Dresden colors are a bit off in the photo - they are not so bright. I am loving the Disappearing Hour Glass pattern. On to the next project.

I've been really busy trying to get my GFG finished. I still have to attach the column on the right but I wanted to lay it out and get a picture because I don't think I'll get it attached by tonight! It's made with 1 1/2" hexies (there are 991 of them!!). I didn't think it would be as big as it is, it's intended for my single bed but it's soooo long! I'm wondering about chopping off the bottom row of flowers and perhaps making some pillowcases out of them so that it all matches nicely. This project actually started out as a pillow case, and then I got going and couldn't stop!

Wow, really pretty.
My granny square quilt top is done. Those 9 seams when really fast. Last weekend DD picked out a pretty tea colored muslin for the backing/binding fabric, that has to be washed and pieced, but I have no batting. Have to wait until I get paid again to order batting. Have fun sewing today everyone.
