My LQS is so expensive, I do have some of their fabric. Wallmart has better fabric than Joanne's. I have noticed that fabrics made especially for Joannes is very thin and not a nice quality...I could not afford to keep up with LQS.

I am hoping that they bring it back to our Wal-Marts in Texas too!! They just took it out of most of them here in Texas. They are a few that still have it, but they are far and few of them that kept them.

Oh, I am so jealous! The local WalMart in my area discontinued their fabrics when they remodeled and turned in to a mini-superstore! And I just started quilting in January...after the price of cotton started to rise. My timing stinks!
    Enjoy your wonderful find!

One of our Walmart stores here in town still carries a full line of fabric...in fact I was there a couple weeks ago and they were clearing out some flannel...86 cents a yd. cant beat that....so i bought it all, lol.

Also if you look near the shelves where the fabric families are or sometimes they are on the cutting tables, they have patterns that are made from the fabric in the family! And the best part is the patterns are free, I've picked a couple up and they don't seem to be written too poorly and seem fairly easy!

Hope they bring fabrics back here. The closest Walmart to me only has pre-cut fabrics and they have gone up and aren't that great a quality. I'll have to keep checking the store.

I keep writing WalMart. I hope those of you that have "Creative Centers" instead of fabric are writing them also.

Well as I looked they had a bunch of fabric on carts being brought out. Now I want to start by saying I realize that Wal-Mart fabric is a different grade than LQS, but the prints they were bringing out were WONDERFUL! On top of that, they have "families" of fabrics just like my LQS has. So you didn't have to guess if it would coordinate or not.

I just wanted to put this out there. If they indeed are going to have this moving forward (it's never been offered in my area before) I'm super excited. I love my LQS, but this would be a great alternative for doing quilts that when you're budget is tight, or you want more bang for your buck, etc.

Did I mention the price on it was anywhere from 3.75 to 4.50 a yard? I didn't have time to pick any up yesterday, but plan on going after work today to get some just to try it out.
A few years ago our WM in Worthington, MN remodeled...they didn't get rid of the fabric dept., but it was downsized somewhat. Lately I've noticed more and more bolts of fabric have been added, and as you noted, Mike, prices are about the same here. The fabrics (for the most part) do have a nice 'feel' to them, and many are in coordinated groupings. Ours has quite a few flannels, as well, and they run between $3 and $4/yd...they would be okay, I think, for lightweight blankets, but not sure how they'd stand up to kid's dragging said blanket all over!

We have several WalMarts in our area and they only carry precuts. Got rid of all the cutting tables and bolts way back when they remodeled.
