If I wanted a fabric from WM, I would buy a small amount and wash it before buying very much. I got burned on a golden tan blender VIP fabric. It felt good until washed the sizing out, then I had to interface it in order to use it. The David's Textiles washed up fine, as has a black with a white rose from the $4.97 rack. Does anyone have the black/red Misty Rose from David's Textiles they'd like to sell? I hate to give up when I have all the others for the Misty Rose quilt.

I buy clothing for myself once in awhile, clothing for my little grandchildren, and shop there for some grocery . I"ve even bought fabric there many times, and I've never felt it was cheap, cheaper . yes, but not every piece is worthless. Trust your own judgement!! I've made quilts from quilt shops that faded out something terrible in a very short time, and it sure wasn't cheap! I don't own stock ( wish I did!), I just think they get bashed a little too much here.Just my opinion.
My thoughts exactly!

I was just in my local Wal-Mart fabric department. I had just purchased blacks & white prints for a quilt at Joann's. The identical fabrics at Wal-Mart were $2.47 yd. I paid MUCH more at Joann's for the exact same fabric. Needless to say, I was sick.

I also buy my fabric at Walmart. I would not be quilting if I had to pay the prices at LQS around here. JoAnns is even cheaper than the LQS. I also check the quality before I buy it. I've been disappointed in the flannel selection at the closest Walmart, but it I travel another 30 miles I can usually find what I'm after. (Actually, Goodwill mens shirts are good quality flannel if you just need a small amount or if you want to throw in a contrast!)

I think it is funny. a year ago or more JoAnn Fabrics swore their fabric was NOT WALMART quality.. then they started stocking some of it after our walmart quit selliing.. at JoAnns prices.
It is a mix.. some is good quality. .use your judgment on thread count and enjoy your chance while you can!
