My sweet husband hangs thing in my sewing room with enthusiasm! He remodeled the house and told me not to pound so many nails in his great drywall, but he doesn’t care in my sewing room and I don’t ask, just thankful. He likes my finds at auctions, with the thread cabinet, my most recent purchase along with shelves and other things. I have my eye on something else and not sure if I should buy it.

No, seriously - Pat had issues with me knitting when we were first married and his argument was "you are paying attention to your knitting - not me." Actuall, I was knitting, watching TV, and carrying on a conversation while not letting dinner burn. So I stopped knitting and became the most attentive B**** you can imagine. After a few days he begged me to knit again.

Now he has his own hobby (Astronomy) but more times than none he will sit with me in the sewing room for company.
Sounds like he really likes your company what a wonderful thing. It can be stifleing at times but it sure is a lot better than him sitting in a bar looking for company. Have you taught him how to cut out your pieces of fabric, iron or even teach him to sew and then you can buy another machine. I love machines .
So happy for you that your husband loves you and wants to be with you. MNM

I have to add my two cents and more about my DH. He is on his computer a lot and does yard work now more than in the past. He is very handy around the house, electrical, plumbing, and especially electronically. He is an accountant and is currently the assistant County Auditor, after retiring after 33 years from Pennzoil Sulphur Co..
He knows I am going to do my thing, sewing, quilting, and Church activities. After all I have been doing these things for the 40 years we've been married, he has never questioned any of these or complained or even commented about what I have spent. I am not a wild spender so that helps. I am a retired school teacher, and am not one to just sit around. I have always contributed fully to the financial funds, and our children's higher levels of education. We are now empty nesters.
He built me a large thread holder a few years back, I haven't told him that it is really too heavy to use that much and I can't hang it on the wall. I still have thread on it, so he doesn't know the diff. lol Last fall he made some of the wooden quilt hangers, that Nancy's Notions and others advertise for wall hangings. I didn't want to pay their prices, and a friend had, so I borrowed hers for a pattern. We went to Lowe's and he found just what he wanted to make them, hardware and wood. He spent a lot of time cutting them out and hand sanding them. They look just like the ones in the catalog.
We no longer have fabric in our local WalMart and the nearest fabric stores, including LQS is at least 85 miles away, so when we go over there to shop, he usually asks, especially if we have a lot of spare time, "do you need to go by Hobby Lobby, the LQS of WalMart (that store still has fabric). He has even gone by and picked up fabric for me if I can't go with him. I normally don't even have to mention going. Now you can't beat that with a stick folks. This past Sat. We had been to my brother's and took him to the airport. The town with Hancocks was 10 miles back down the road, I mentioned I needed to go to H. and when we left the airport, we back tracked and arrived before they opened. He patiently waited without any remarks, which he never gives, and went in with me, but had to leave because the dyes or something began to bother his allergies, he patiently waited in the car. He is a real keeper, I may just have to keep him for another 40, possibly only 20 for me and 20 for him if we are lucky. lol. He is the love of my life and a true soul mate. Sorry for the long post, but I just got carried away with my bragging, but we Texans tend to to that lol. Gerbie

Enjoyed your story Gerbie and totally off topic, for some unknown reason Pecos, Texas, has always been one of my favorite location names. Hope you get that additional 40 years.

Thank you MNM. This is true. He could be out looking for company elsewhere. Thanks for the reminder.

Gerbie-I am from Texas and I miss it so much!!! My husband does that too. He will take a stack of magazines and read in the car while I go to the LQS or JoAnns. He never complains and tells me to take my time and if I come out and he is gone, he's in the drug store! I went to 2 different fabric stores this past week and spent a small fortune and he didn't bat an eye. Of course, he had just bought a new JigSaw from Home Depot! LOL

i have been doubly blessed !!my late dh was so handy & re-did my sewing room twice because it wasn't convenient the first time around! i showed him an ad from ja'sfor a cutting table, the pic was 1 1/2in lg & cost $125.he took the pic to his workshop& made one to my needs.i have abck problems so made it to my specs so i don't have to bend over at all!it folds down to13x36& opens to 36x73.all from a 1 1/2"pic!!!anything that would make it easier for me. he passed away in jan of '01
a year later i met another love of my life,a wondrful man,not handy ,but SO thoughtful he amazes me.does almost all my shopping because it's really ahrd for me,took me to paduca on the way home from visiting kids in fl.surprize !knew i was admiring all the antique machines,so scouted out a 1909 singerw/table.went into a fabric shop he had found, let me shop as long as i liked, then came in & said "is that her money?give it back"& pd for everything! found a lamp on clearance,he went back the next day & bought another one for my second machine !
sorry this is so long, but i REALLY did try to shorten it,but could go on ................................
i have been twice blessed w/wonderful men, what are the chances of THAT ?
