I am using King Tut at the moment. I only found it a short time ago and I like it very much.

Me too! It's inexpensive and no problems with it whatsoever. Very good quality and a good price to boot.

If you love Aurifil you will want to order here: http://www.tristan.bc.ca/

I have ordered a lot of the Maco cotton thread (same as Aurifil), silk, machine embrodiery, and wool thread from them and the customer service is great.

I use PRESENCIA thread, made in Spain and sold online from Harriet's Treadle Arts - a store owned by the master heirloom machine quilter, Harriet Hargrave, in Denver, Colorado.
This thread is manufactured with precision and no lint. It is from a family owned company which has been in business for the past 78 years, and is only recently selling their product in the United States. They are widely recognized in Europe, and especially in the garment manufacturing industry. They have a 60 weight 3 ply thread -- very strong -- for holding quilts together. If you use anything less, the threads will eventually not hold the weight of a pieced and quilted quilt. The other brands mentioned are no longer manufactured in Germany, but Greece, and the quality of the threads is not what it used to be. Google Harriet Hargrave to find the store.

Tristan has a clearance on Aurifil since they won't be carrying it any longer. Good deals - you should check it out.

I used to use C&C exclusively, but I'm phasing out what I have left of it. I discovered after using a spool of Gutterman that the C&C creates a whole lot of lint, and the problems I sometimes have are a result of it. I have some connecting threads thread, that I haven't tried yet. I haven't been quilting very long, so I'm still trying things out, but I know I'm done with coats and clark.

Where does it say they won't be carrying it anymore on their site?? They're clearance sale priced in bundles etc. but they've been that way for at least a year.

"We introduced Aurifil to North America in 1998 that since has become one of the more popular threads. Now we are fortunate to be representing the major Italian thread producer Cucirini Tre Stelle. Take advantage of our specials and try out the highest quality threads for quilting, sewing and embroidery."

Click on the Aurifil clearance page, scroll to the bottom and it says "we're clearing out our aurifil threads at unbeatable prices". It's marked down to $5 and many of the most common colors are already out of stock. You just needed to look at little further.
