What do you consider to be the very best tip that you got from this board?

I think what I learned that is of great importance is to ignore the 'quilt police'. I never knew what to say to quilters who told me that the only real quilts were handmade (pieced and quilted by hand). Now I just smile and ignore them. Also to read about other's mistakes and know that I am not alone.

Many time's while reading this post, I've wished the board had a "like" button as FaceBook does. I just "like" so many of the posts...and there are too many that I "like" to comment on them.

[ I picked 9 blocks that pointed out a connection between her and I. I wrote a little memory story about each block and had it bound at kinko's so she'd have a book to read to go with her quilt.]
This story made me tear up!

OMG In my first year quilting I knew nothing about quilting on Day 1 when I got the machine (I was a costume and drapery sewer) and decided to make a baby quilt. I learned everything I know right here on this board by reading, searching, asking...
I can't imagine a better way! But that is only because of the people who populate this QuiltingBoard community.
You're terrific!

Dray: The "Like" button is such a great idea! Many times I really admire something that has been posted but really have nothing new to add so I don't comment. Has nothing to do with how great the project is or how much I enjoyed looking.

So...what's your best one?
Hi dray965..Good thread!!!
#1...ACCURACY..Saves so much time and frustration...Today, I pieced nine patch blocks. I chained sewed the squares, butting them carefully, as not to have loose stitches. Take it slow. Does not take as much time as ripping. ALL your seams will line up, and life will be wonderful..
#2 To make this just perfect, I used the Commando picture hanging strips to measure the 1/4 ", that has been suggested here on QB.
Thick enough to butt up your fabric. I DID attach the strip over the frog tape, afraid the commando tape might not come off the machine..But that's your choice..
I have learned all about machines and what they do..because of this , I have my Juki 98 , that I just love. Plus a dependable lower end Janome, that keeps me well equipped.
I have sooo many links of information from QB members.. They are the greatest, and it can't be stated enough...
I guess most important, is always UNPLUG your IRON when not in use...
