I use a reinforcements on each bobbin to hold the the to the side, then I put a golf tee through the hole and insert the tee into the hole in the spool of thread. They are stored in a SnapWare container with a handle. I keep empty bobbins and extra filled bobbins in the 7-day pill containers.
I use a toolbox with a handle and wheels for transporting my sewing gear. I will take a photo when I get to UFO this morning and post it later.

I stack my bobbins on the matching spools of thread that are on one of those peg holders. If I kept them in a box, though, I would use your idea. Practical & Darling at the same time! :-)
