So many of the suggestions cut up the fabric to the point where you miss the oomph and attraction of this fabric altogether (IMHO).

Something like Atkinson Design's SLIDE SHOW pattern came to mind - ise the umbrella fabric for the large squares and all kinds of complementary fabrics for the smaller squares. Here's the pattern weblink: http://www.atkinsondesigns.com/patte...?productID=138 .

What about making a tote bag with your husband's idea af the little boy on the front. I think that would be adoreable. I would love to have a tote like that. I would also use black polks dot fabric for the lining.

Love your fabric! I had a similar fabric & made grocery bags! Actually made 5 bags from the piece... Have fun with your fabric!

A stack and whack quilt (depending on the length of the pattern repeat).

Hey, great idea from your DH. Go to Clip Art and see if they have a picture of a boy.

It's great fabric, but I would probably make a tote bag or use it for backing on a small quilt, so I wouldn't have to cut it up.

I like your DH's idea. A panel of a little child surrounded by this fun fabric. I can sure see why you were drawn to it, the colors are fantastic.

I just finished a quilt made of umbrella BOM by my guild. Here are some pics. The blocks were a variety of sizes so I had to add different sized sashings and then I alternated the rows and added the gals, then to make it fit, cut some of the gals in half, then added the rain drops. Fun!

    Almost done with the top

Finished! The quilting looks like splashes
