thanks. The border is 4.5" wide. I did it as wide as I could with the amount of fabric I had for it. I think the blocks are supposed to be 8" finished but they are 7.5". I was probably using the wrong seam allowance-it's one of the first quilts I made (I think it was the 2nd or maybe 3rd). I used a jelly roll so if I had used the correct seam allowances it would have been 8". I have no clue how I messed that up. lol

I think whatever you decide is going to be perfect! I just love how you added in the pinwheel!

Square so you won't lose the last pinwheel. Love these colors and the pattern! And the baby will, too!

Thanks everyone. The grandfather was here tonight (dropping off his homemade lasagna....mmm) and I was able to lay out the first 3 rows that I had stitched together so we could discuss the size. He is an engineer and I should have known that he would opt for the square. I will use the last row in the backing as I need to piece it anyway so carrying the rail fence will help and make the backing interesting.

I personally DO NOT like SQUARE quilts. Even my wall hangings.

Thanks for the border size Gale. I think I will try this pattern again with a jelly roll.

I wish I had thought of using a computer program to see this so clearly. I may need to invest in EQ7. Many thanks.

Bright and cheery! I don't think I've seen fence rails with pinwheel added. Very clever.
