I don't care for the cut off pinwheel idea. I don't see why you still can't make the quilt rectangular if you wanted to, though. The pinwheels are in the center of the block, so just make more blocks lengthwise than widthwise (right?).

I would do whatever size that keeps ALL the pinwheels. That is one awesome, bright & cheery quilt. Perfect for a toddler.

I would make it longer as toddlers grow fast. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! Want to see a finished picture.

I'm sure whichever you do, it will come out beautifully! I love the colors and adding pinwheel to it was a nice idea.

This is a beautiful quilt. Really spices up the rail fence pattern. Is there a name for this variation or a source for the pattern?. I would love to try it.
