I didn't name my machines until I got my Janome Horizon - Gwendolyn. My 11000 is Genevieve. My FW is Ducky.

Never been raised to give the sewing machines names. So, never thought to do so and just can not bring myself to do so. I use to name my cars, but do not do that anymore. I will have to think on it.

Why name them? Why not. My Pfaff is Jean Luc, after the bald guy on Star Trek. The Bernina is Bernie, yeah, not too cleaver there. My SUV is named the Enterprise (Star Trek) and even the Microwave Oven is call Hanford, after the atomic works near the Tri-Cities in my state (Washington)

I'm so happy and excited to see all the sewers who have names for their sewing machines.
If I tell you mine is Bernie, can you figure out what I have? Now that I'm a widow I spent lots of time, when I'm not at work, with Bernie. Some people really ask who that is or where we went and what we did!!!! If you haven't yet figured it out, I have a Bernina.

Necchi - Sophia because she beautiful and Italian
Kenmore 158 - Pitiful Pearl because she's neglected
Universal - no name yet, she's still in the car. I think Bette as she's the twin to my mother's White
How about Rosina for the Elna??

I thought perhaps it was because the majority of them were owned by women? Not that the other reason could be very valid.. especially when acting persnickety. 8-)

My Machines:
Singer 221 FW - Miss Compton, as that was the name along with tension notes that were written in very "old timey" cursive in the owner's manual. She was purchased on ebay about 6 years ago.

Singer model-15 treadle - Irma, after my Great-Grandmother that bought her new and loved her for many years. :)

Singer 9022 - Martha, after my Grandmother that sewed many a baby blanket and quilt on her. I inherited her in December.

Other machines:
1923 Singer 99 hand crank, Two Singer 185J machines, a Singer 40K hand crank, and my Kenmore that I purchased new in 1991.
I've not named my other machines.
