Killing two birds with one stone. De-stash, teach sewing and earn money for your church organizations...oh, that's three birds with one stone, your good!
Yeah!!! I love the way you work that one out. Good job!

Some of that stuff just isn't me.
I've cleared out fabric from my old garment sewing days, but I've not seen the "need" to destash my cottons. I don't have M's or GM's stash goods, but I do have stash from people who think, because I quilt, I would like their stash. Occasionally a friend will say,"I have a box of fabric I'd like you to have. I don't sew anymore." Yikes!

Zenodeno, I love your avatar!

Boy, you should come on over to my house. I'm moving and have sold much of my fabric and am giving my scrapies to a lady who just love to seww together squares. She will be getting a very large (bushel) basket packed tight. Boo Hoo! Had to do it.

It sounds like my stash isn't as big as I thought. I am not a scrappy person. My mind only does planned scrappy. Yellow Brick Road is a ningtmare to me. When I make a quilt I use as much of the scraps to widen the back so that I don't have to buy as much fabric. I also piece in my label. Anything left over that I really like is cut into as big squares as possible and placed in plastic bags with other same size or given to my quilt guild.

When I'm putting new fabric away and see several of those "Why did I buy that?" pieces. I've found that my tastes do change and what I bought last year may not be what I like this year or I've changed my mind about the quilt I bought it for. I don't feel this is a waste because my ASG group has a fabric swap about twice a year and my destashed goes there. One man's junk is another man's treasure.

So often, a member will spot your piece and say it's just what she's been looking for. That makes you feel good.

Hi, I really like your purple quilt in your small picture. Could you please let me know what pattern this is, and where to get it? Maybe just jot ddown the names of each square and I'll take it from there. Each and everyone of you have such great ideas!!!

So hard to do! I give some to friends in the retirement center where I live. Also make the Krazy Kat balls (toys) stuffed with catnip from the Jinny Beyer book. Probably said that already. After reading your comments on how expensive fat quarters are I will probably put together some that are much more reasonable and fund my next spectacles with any profit. Will have to improve my skills then! Really enjoying your site.

DE-STASH? What language is that? Never heard of such a thing before. <G> I agree with the one on this board who said "This is not a stash - it's a Fabricology Research Center!"

First rule is if it isn't a thrill any more, consider putting it with another fabric one would have never contemplated, make fat quarters and donate, make "Kitty Balls" Jinny Beyer's Puzzle Balls, stuff with catnip and donate one to animal shelter for each one I trade for services eg my computer maintenance. All my friends seem to have more than one cat - big surprise!
