I have been to the shop in old town Spring when I visited my brother in Spring several years ago. It is a great shop. Yes, I visit quilt shops along the way when we travel. My DH is one that thinks the car needs washing every time a bug hits the windshield so I just point out a quilt shop and he drops me off to go find a car wash. Where else can you stretch your legs and meet new people and enjoy great fabric finds........and have something to pet in the car!!?

I went to Oregon a few years ago, and my husband and I stoped at every shop going up the coast. It was so much fun.

Actually if mine goes he searches for the ugliest fabric in the store and makes me buy a yard of it for making him go.
So....are you saving all these ugly fabrics to make a quilt for him? After all...he DID pick out those fabrics specially!!! LOL

Patti

Oh, that is sooo sweet. My husband and I were married 40 years when he went to live with our Lord. He was like your husband and would let me shop anywhere I wanted to. He's been gone now for 11 years. I still miss him terribly.

When DH and I retired, we took a trip to PA. We went through Indiana, Ohio, etc. We arrived home and all our friends and family wanted to know why DH had such a good tan and I did not. I told them he got his tan from sitting on the "old duffer's benches" outside all of the quilt shops that I had gone into. Loved that trip and I see all of you mention some of the shops and towns that we visited.

I already made him a quilt with ugly fabric! I made him a log cabin with every ugly fabric I could find and I put stuff together that clashed even. It's one of the coolest quilts I've ever made.
