My husband and I took a trip to West Virginia this last May and on our way home we went by way of Winterset Iowa and stopped at Fons and Porters Quilt Shop in Winterset Iowa and it also the Bridges of Madison county. What a lot of history in this little town. Enjoyed Fons and Porters Quilt shop and of course bought something. My husband always looks for quilt shops and antique stores on the way.

Since my DH is better than I am at finding things online, he always has a list of possible shops to visit whenever we go anywhere. AND he helps me pick out fabric. He is definitely a keeper. :)

I went to Oklahoma a few years ago and found some nice quilt shops. It is fun when you are traveling to visit other shops.

Quilt shops and Independent Bookstores always, and hardware stores if they're convenient.

Wow. Southwest Designs (kopeli) is just east of I-25 in Albuquque, Denver has 7 great shops, especially High Prairie Quilts in Parker and Great American Quilt Factory. I shall go to all 7 Friday on the Shop Hop. Let us know what you find.

ALWAYS!!! I even have a wonderful DH who doesn't mind all the stopping & often extra driving. The exception to that would be one trip where we had the Quilters' Travel Companion & after searching for over half an hour, found out she had closed-GGGrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! This was before cell phones, or I would have called the shop. It wouldn't have been so bad excep for earlier in the day we had done the same searching only to find the shop had moved! (Would you believe the business next to her old location had never heard of her?? How crazy is that??!!)

Gosh, Jeniver, what great info! We are flying into Albuqurque and then driving to Santa Fe, probably stopping in Taos, and then we head to Crested Butte. If you have any other suggestions please share! :D :D
