I machine stitch. It takes practice. I just saw the tutorial on the glue method then stitch. It looks like a great idea. I'm going to give it a try. Our church was doing quilts for "Prayers and Squares" It was noted that not all hand stitched binding is well and some of the bindings were not holding. That's when I went to sewing.

People do it the way you suggest. There are internet tutes. I tried it that way, but didn't like the look of it. I'm sticking with the old way for now.

As I usually use the backing as the binding, bringing it to the front and turning it under, I can machine stitch the binding edge

I agree. I love to sit and finish the quilt on my lap.I guess in a way I am saying goodbye to the quilt as most of mine are given away. Just love the "feel."

I think it's just personal choice. I like to hand sew and I like the looks of the hand done binding but I've seen some very pretty decorative stitches on machine done bindings so it doesn't realy matter.

Since I do my piecing and quilting by hand, it just follows that I would hand sew the binding. I enjoy having something to stitch on while relaxing in the evenings. Having said that, I think binding by machine is fine too. It goes back to the old saying,"It's your quilt, do it how you want to".

I see nothing wrong with you sewing the binding your way. I have always cut my binding on the bias which most people don't do any more. The bias helps me around the corners with ease where a regular binding you would have to miter.
Your quilt, your way.

I love hand work so I hand stitch my binding. I guess it sounds silly, but that is when I bond with my quilt. I think I could be ok with a charity quilt being stitch by machine.
