Melinda, I can't remember the name but it was in the Spring 2012 of a quilting magazine. I think Fons and Porter but not real sure. It is super easy. 12 Fat Quarters and 4 yards of white fabric. I used the Batik Fq'a I got from the Shop when I was in Seattle and took the Ferry to the Island, I think Blaine?? Any way the set of 12 Fq's was really really expensive (I paid $62.00 for 12 fat quarters and really thought I was pretty foolish to do that. So I am keeping the quilt, can't afford to sell it!) The next one I make with this pattern will be with some inexpensive fat quarters!

Hey ZZ mom I am in Oregon right now! my sister is a Beaver fan my nephew is a Duck fan, I swing both ways, but really like to cheer on the Oregon teams. Being from the Mtns of California I am happy to be in good old wet Oregon right now! Hubby says lots of snow at home, here it is just wet! My Mom lives in Lebanon, near Albany.

Wow lots of Roots in Oregon here. My Sister lives in Crawfordsville and my Ex In laws live in Sweet home. I used to live in Brownsville. My daughter was born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene 33 years ago! so I really have a lot of family and memories here! I would move here in a heart beat but hubby loves So Cal and all his family is there! I am just very thankful for the internet and how small it has made the world. Melinda since we did not get to meet when I was in Seattle, you will have to let me know if you come and visit your Mom over the next few weeks, maybe we can meet after all! I can't believe I actually told you all how much I spent on those Batik FQ's, if hubby ever found out, well lets just say I would not have to worry about where to live LOL...

Well it is midnight so I am going to go to bed! Good night ladies!

Linny, you got me interested in underground railroad quilt codes. I had not heard of this b4, so now I've been doing a little digging myself. If anyone else is interested in the subject, here are some interesting links:

Mindless and Linny, I have a book of Hobo symbols for making a quilt. Some of the quilts are really neat. I have been collecting the homespun fabrics to use on that. I want my quilt to 'say' something with the symbols, but haven't as yet sat down to figure out what the message might be - something about real nice lady, grumbly man!! LOL

Swap partner and I have finally made some sort of decisions on types of quilts - mine will be a log cabin and hers is an Asian style fabric blocks (surprise, surprise). Will be getting more excited as this progresses! Will definitely post pictures as we proceed.

I have started this quilt and there's a quilt shop that carries the fabric that was used in the blocks in the book.

I have also made three of these quilts and one was in a quilting group. The book is very interesting as well.

mindless- thanks for the links....this is all very interesting to me..I think my weekend will be spent researching instead of sewing.
Vanogay-what is the name of your book? I only know these came out of the depression era..more research needed
buddy'smom-would love to see pictures of the quilts you made....that would be a treat!

Hello ladies, Tam Moo and I are discussing a bit still, i have some fabrics collected already and have been working on a pattern for the block, and the border, and as I told her I am using parts of 3 different blocks to make a unique block, with a special one in the middle or center block, I am into making unique one of a kind quilts, as i dont do much repeats , really cant think of any , but mabe one, and she picked it out and it was a panel, of blocks, baby animals, it was cute and she loved it and that is what i like , for people to love what I make them,
Now that my little ones surgery is over, and she is doing better, i will post pics of the fabric, as some jsut arrived in the mail yesterday, from MSQ, but later on today are tonight i should have them up, and maybe a block partly put together, and yes i will be putting sneak peaks, and parts of the construction , for inspiration, as i get some also from other peoples work, looking foreard to many more pics.
am I no the right site group for the pics i had read a earlier post about being in the group site, is this it, just checking,
I to have received some great fabrics form a nameless fellow quilting buddy and some special deals and jsut love all i have received adn have some waiting on postage, as that will be a bit later, and you know who u are ,
best wishes for a wonderful day and we are cold here in Kansas,

Hello Didi, darlin. Have been digging and pulling and looking and thinking. I think I am on a close track. You tell me what you think. I want to make you proud. Don't get mad if it's not real big. But what I have in mind, it has to stay square. Now if I can only pull it off

The pictures of quilts are from magazines. Just styles that I want to try and I think you would like.

OH, Boop, I want Celina...but tell her I got her wet kiss, so she doesn't have to leave mama..plus Cody might get jealous. Is you porch screened in, where you sew?? Wow, to have all of that light and cool air. O.K. I love the fabric with my pumpkin and the colorful strips. I love squares, like I said I'm a simple girl, nothing fancy about me. I'm trying to sew squares now. Can't quite get them right, oh Harry(seam ripper) and I are really becoming very good friends. LOL.. Only, had a few minutes, Babe needs some attention been Deer Hunting all week. Leaving again in the morning...Bye all
