Jaba when I do both groups I'm the same one group at a time.
Muse they aren't as difficult as they look a rectangle that is 3.5 inches on the top and 1 inch on the bottom that is 5 inches long repeat x 12. Fold right sides together on the 3.5 inch edge and sew, flip right side out makes a perfect self facing point, press so the point stays in the middle, sew all your blades together making sure to start on the pointy end b/c that is the money end for keeping it looking neat, the center will be covered. Make sure you use sizing (or starch if you prefer) before you start cutting anything. And there you have it a nice little plate fits perfectly well on a 12.5 inch square of fabric.
Glad I tried out that block I was talking about for the striped fabric. Figured out I was 1/2 inch off, which I thought I might be. Figured out a way to make it work w/ the amount of fabric I have available. Figured out a couple of short cuts that will make it "doable", one in particular that is going to make me look like a genius even though it is such a cheat!!!!! Even w/ the short cuts it's going to be a booga bear, but that is the fun of it! I didn't finish mine yet just far enough to know what I'm doing w/ Sewbiz's fabric, guess I really should finish it now.

I saved several blocks I thought would be cool w/ stripes (just in case, lol lol lol) One of the more complicated ones (hence more intriguing to me) will only work w/ Sewbiz's stipe. I drew it out odd shapes, odd sizes, then drew and cut individual color coded pieces from construction paper, dry fitted it, found some issues, I think corrected them. But the more I think about it the more I think I'll work this one up in my fabrics first, something is nagging at me, don't know what, but this one takes every thread of her striped fabric, any mistakes and the pieces will be hard to rework into something else b/c of the odd shapes and sizes.
I just got in from the gym, where I taught my senior yoga class. They do squats (chair pose) and lunges (warrior poses) in every class. In their regular Silver Sneakers (not yoga) they even do one legged squats! I love keeping them healthy. Would love to sit them on the big balls, but without an assistant I'm afraid someone would roll off and crack their head! They need spotters for that one, but what a great exercise! In my water class we try anything, because they aren't going to hurt themselves if they fall off balance in the water. I wish I had assistants.

mjp the name is Marija not Maritza. Enjoyed the class Tues., see you Friday.
You go travelinggramma. I love to hear these kind of stories.
I had my first of 2017 FallProof class with Maritza in it yesterday. We had fun. We sat on big stability balls, closed our eyes and moved around. We practiced the first strategy the body uses to prevent falls; ankle strategy and we practiced walking and stopping in ready position in case a 2 year old grandchild or cute little yorkie is running at us full tilt. We also do squats in my class. I tell them you gotta be able to get on and off the pot (toilet) or else your kids will send you to assisted living.
Two 90 year olds and 9 youngsters (70s and 80s) and four assistants in the class. Maritza was the fastest again, not that its ever a race. We all did great. Wish I could include all of you who need it in the class.
BTW my almost 95 year old mother lives in NY in a senior home, independent living . She has a better social life than I do. Life has been very good for her the last 14 years, living in this place. She has no qualms about moving to assisted living there if/when she needs it. I have to admit she does do her squats every day though.

Attention everyone! I need to clarify one important point: While it is ALWAYS the block maker's choice as to what block to make, it should ALWAYS be done with the owner's color requests in mind. Please read the color requests that came with the F8 and then decide what to make. If someone requests only red be used, please don't make a block that requires four different colors. Please try to honor the requests as much as possible. Of course, there will be variations between your idea of red and another person's red, but adding pink or purple isn't an acceptable option. Anyone who spots an issue with a block, please let me know. Believe me, this stuff happens every round and I consider it part of my job to help facilitate solutions to the various "issues" that come up. Just remember to privately email me and not post here.
Your take away from this is to ALWAYS try to honor the owner's fabric requests. If you cannot, please contact the owner and see what they would like you to do. And if you spot a problem, don't hesitate to email me. If I don't know about it, I cannot help find a solution. Thank you!

Okay sewbiz I have your block finished. I've been in jail all week sick so have done more sewing then I thought I would this early. It turned out more "old fashioned" looking then I thought, in the picture I was following the colors were more modern and graphic. Over all I am happy w/ how it turned out. Definately glad I did this one, but would NEVER do a quilt of them!!!! lol lol I had intended to make the (yellow) diamonds two tone green like leaves, but none of my greens played well together and w/ your fabrics, the one that did tried to take over the whole block so pale yellow it was. I had to include a close up of that center I was especially proud of it that doesn't happen often for me for an 8 point center. And the other pic was the practice block I still need to finish, but shows the two tone idea I had.
