That's funny you said that b/c i was playing around with the block and was thinking the same thing. Perhaps a two color quilt might work better for exactly the reason you stated.

The example with the jelly rolls you'd have the same fabrics throughout the quilt. Scrappy but still co-ordinated I guess. I can imagine for a swap using all black and white prints with a white or red and white prints with white as an example, then the whole quilt would have something in common even though it might have 90 different "black and white" prints. Does that make sense? Just a thought.....I'm still trying to visualize.

Great input, everyone. If we went with a 2-color theme, how about:

pink/green
red/pink (Valentines)
black/white/red (3 colors but you know what I mean). Good suggestion, Jaba.

any other suggestions?

I'm giving Batiks a break for awhile, Janice.

Would love to do a scrappy block with floral prints. Always open to suggestions.

Just realized I mis-read Jaba's post. Black & white or red & white would look great. Possibly black & white with ONE red strip per block??? What do you think?

I'll await your final decision and see if I can make it work. Don't want you to change your mind on my behalf at all, maybe I just need to see some samples. Let us know and we'll be off and running....

One idea I had as I read all the others... How about white background with black on white and white on black inserts, then ONE strip of any solid and we all do the same strip colored. So if I did six sets I may do one set with the solid color in red, the next set with my solid color in blue, the next in green and so on... Does that make sense? Just an idea. (I still think it would be lovely in my Texas florals.)

I'd love to do floral prints. I don't have many, so a swap would be a nice way for me to get a variety for a quilt top. But it could be any block pattern-- I'm not fussy. :-)

SheriR, I hope I notice when you use decide to use your Texas florals-- I'd like to see what you sew using them (I wonder what they look like?), or I'd like to be in the swap when you use them!

Jane mailed mine yesterday. You will get a day late, sorry. I hope you can wait for them. Also I think I forgot to put my name on the blocks. If it's too late, then just send back. It's my fault they got off late ( and that daggone printer ).
