I”m in the sprint portion of the boom block race to the finish. DH and I have been on a van trip; Joshua Tree Music festival, White Water Preserve, a friend’s driveway in Culver City, Los Angeles and Woodland Hills Far West ( Folk Music) Conference. My husband is attending the conference.

Meanwhile I set up a sewing center in my hotel room. They have an iron and full ironing board. The bellman brought up our fridge/cooler, my not small sewing machine and my adjustable camp table. He took two pieces of furniture away. Fortunately we were given a disability room and it is quite big. The only thing I wish I had brought is some best press.

I had done most of the cutting for the raw edge applique blocks, so I needed to iron them on and to sew them. The red, white and blue block had 23 pieces on it! Since I sew around each piece twice that was a lot of pieces. I need to finish the applique attachment (all done Free Motion quilting style) tomorrow morning and then for five of them I need to do a little bit of piecing on them. Then if there’s time I have four of five more blocks to piece together. I’ve cut out a lot of the pieces for these. I don’t think I’ll get all of these done tomorrow and we leave Monday morning but I do believe I’ll get most of them done. I may leave the trimming to 12 1/2” until I get home. My mat isn’t quite wide enough.

Meanwhile a booker is trying to convince my husband to play in a small festival in Alaska on a very small island next summer…

Oh my goodness! There’s seems to be a lot of medical problems going around. I hope everyone gets good results from the doctors. SB your family’s problems sound scary! I wish I could make everyone healthy and hearty! And I hope those fleas are gone!

Do you think it’s just that we are all getting older? Take care of yourself everyone!

NZ, our first home together was infested with fleas. When we toured it, it was fine. A month later after the people moved out, we were bitten hundreds of times. It was a mess to get rid of but time and a lot of work and new carpeting took care of it. I empathize with you.

Has anyone heard from RebaQuilts? It’s been about a month since she last logged on. I’ve sent her an email but no response yet. Will try calling her next week. Unfortunately, this being out of touch led me to missing this but thankfully a boomer pointed it out. Does anyone know of anyone else missing???

Ill try to check in later today.

Hi all, yes, I knew that October was going to me hairy for me. It is all good; while watching the poor people in NC from Helene, I simply cannot complain about ANYTHING. It is just overwhelming to see what they are having to deal with. My childhood friend has been working for a national airline for 35+ years and made me her "enrolled friend" this year (like a spouse) so I can fly anywhere, anytime, on standby for free with her seniority. It might never happen again. My kids can then fly on a buddy pass, so I told each one to pick a dream location for them and we would go for a week. September was Tokyo with my daughter, October was Salem and Cape Cod with my flight attendant friend, which was on her bucket list, then this past week was Honolulu with my son, then Houston for the IQF, then November will be Johannesburg with my oldest (he is paying for the safari). We fly on Tuesdays or Wednesdays because we fly standby/space available. I'm trying to fit all of my normal regular work for clients into the days between trips and it has been insane. In Hawaii, I had a contested court hearing at 2 a.m. Honolulu time, outside on a deck, while pacing back and forth under a motion sensor light, in a pinch for another lawyer (worked out ok). That's why I got as many blocks done as I could immediately, because I have only a few weeks in between trips now before they are due. I'll try to be better at posting in the next few weeks, I promise. This is just a once in a lifetime situation these 3 months, my friend isn't 30 anymore and has had some serious health challenges, as someone mentioned, there are health issues all around as we get older. I had a flea problem several years ago when we had a drought, I eventually had to have the house treated, I was told that dry weather brings them inside and makes things 100% worse. They are nasty little buggers; I hope you are able to get rid of them. And a big big hug for everyone who has had health challenges themselves or with their families, and for those who are affected by these nasty hurricanes. And prayers. <3

What awesome travel plans, Reba! Hope you have time to explore and enjoy a bit, everywhere you go. I feel you will get your blocks done in time, but if you find you need help finishing, just holler and one or more of us will help. This is a great group.

Checking in from the street corner, again.

Reminder that all boom blocks are due in my hands In about 1 month, On November 22. You can start shipping on Monday, November 4 with blocks beginning to arrive mid-week. That’ll give everyone a couple of weeks to get them to me by the deadline.

Well, it’s back to our house to watch another old movie. My patience is wearing thin regarding the lack of internet in the house. I hope it pops on sometime this week!

I can imagine how frustrating the lack of Internet is, Janice! My husband is on his phone every spare minute and I think lack of internet would drive him insane! Would library books or a movie from the library help? I've really been into audiobooks lately.

This past weekend my Hubby and I were busy cleaning out our garage and sheds. What a chore! I think Hubby took something like 6 truck bed loads to the tip. Nice to have our sheds back! Famous last words "we won't let it get that bad again!" Hopefully we stick to that!

None of us have been bitten by those pesky fleas for about a week, so I think we have the infestation under control. I gave the house another deep clean and vacuum. I think it's safe to sew all of your blocks again! Here's one for HAV4BOYS.

Reba - I am so happy for you! I hate planning a trip (although I have experience from crisscrossing the USA) I would love to have a one on one if they planned and helped pay for the safari or snorkeling or…. Please fill us in so we can enjoy it too.

NZ YIPPEE for no bug bites and an emptier shed.

Janice my DH would be in rehab without his phone and internet. And he needs it for his diabetes pump etc.

Found two more drawers filled with strips and scrapes. So throwing some strings together for scrappy string quilts. And cutting candy for swapping . But I need to be organized and this is necessary.

Cold front passing.

Blocks are done, packed and ready for their shipping envelope. Yah, I can't believe it myself. Ready early. This gives me time to work on my ornament exchange project. There is still time to join if you are interested. A one and done exchange that is low stress and what fun to get an early holiday package from one of the QB members.
