First thing this morning found me in the sewing room. Sandwiched Mia’s quilt and plan on quilting it only 15 minutes a time then resting my shoulder for an hour or so. At least that’s the plan

WMUt we are supposed to get rain today, sure hope that doesn’t go your way.

Pretty funny at the Ortho’s office yesterday my orthopedic is my primary doctor’s dh. I had no idea till my friend who is a NP told me. I saw his wife in the AM and sh told me she thought he had a couple appointments open that afternoon. Called and was lucky to snatch up the one opening. Told Dr Tate I had seen his wiife few hours previous and joking around he said well that’s good is she still working. I laughed and said how much I loved her and he said oh so do I. Great chuckles. When he was checking my range of motion he said you know it’s not right that your shoulder clicks every time I move it. Replied oh I know but that’s nothing compared to how my knee’s sing to me. He just shook his head.

As we know this getting old isn’t for sissies

Terriamn, I’m a red curry gal. Good luck on Mia’s quilt.

Wmuteach, you are a very busy woman with all your special events. Good for you. I’ll bet your home smells terrific with all your baking.

We’re off to the grocery store for round one of Christmas groceries. A few things will need to wait until closer to the day.

Hi friends, I've been away too long! I'm having a really hard time without my dog, Marty. I look for him everywhere I turn, and hear him walking in other rooms. I even saw him in one of my dreams the other day. He's still around.

Tonight I got my last grandchild's jammies finished, and wrapped his and his sister's gifts (she got jammies too, among other things), and packed their big box and got it ready for mailing. Hubby will drop it off at UPS for me tomorrow while he's out. Would you believe my big box would have been $30 to ship USPS, but UPS will do it for $16? They are also much faster, and don't man-handle the packages. I'm really liking UPS.

I haven't been sewing, aside from Christmas gifts. I always have tops to quilt, but haven't gotten many done lately, with Christmas planning and a dog with cancer.

Our temps went way cold too, then back up to mild. It was 60 today. I'll take that all winter long, thank you. I do like the cold days and fires in the fireplace, but not all the time.

SBG - I am so sorry Marty got so ill. Adjusting to him not being there in body is tough. I'm glad he is coming to you in your dreams. It is a tough transition. I'm glad you're staying busy with other things.

Terriamn - your singing bones are just the new you. Are they talented enough to sing out "Hark the Herald Angels Sing"? I hope they don't hurt. Mine creak and ache but not at the same time. Unless doctors are prodding me....

Janice, Yum!! I'm coming to your house. I know you are cooking up some great things.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy New Year! Enjoy all the celebrations that come our way.

Sewbiz- I totally understand. Sending you a big hug from another animal lover.
Well, I have a date with my surgeon January 13 for my gallbladder removal. It's outpatient. I couldn't be more relieved! I used to work with his patients. It's nice to know the person who's working on you. I guess one of the perks of being a nurse. After my one and only gallbladder attack last summer I've actually wanted this news. It could be much worse. I've had very minimal symptoms except for that one night and I don't want to repeat it or have complications which you can have if you let it go. At least in my case it's true.
I expect next year to be a little crazy. Paul needs back surgery but he had an abnormal EKG so he has to have another stress test in January. Always something! But overall, life is good and I'm grateful for so much!
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!!

Susie Q glad you have your gallbladder surgery scheduled. I put up with attacks for several years until they did the ultra sound. My symptoms confused the docs because so much of my pain was originally in my back.

Quilting went well yesterday but only worked 2 15 minute sessions. Shoulder is much better today

Ibex my singing knees don’t hurt unless I do something life changing like kneeling down on the floor. No scrubbing the floors on my hands and knees. Ok like that would happen anyway 🤪

SBG, I know you know this already but the loss of a pup like Marty is life changing. I hope his appearance in your dreams makes you happy.

Terriamn, sorry to hear about your singing knee but mine also sing to me when I try to do anything on the floor without a thick cushion. My knee surgery couldn’t address the arthritis so I knew I’d still have that problem afterwards. Hope you’ll show is Mia’s quilt when it’s done. Good for you getting some quilting done. Take it slow.

Stopped by the LQS with the LA’s to pick up pins to attach my backing to the zippers. Forgot that when I bought the zippers. Am going to pick a small, maybe two small quilts that can go side by side, to quilt on the LA. I fear I’ve already forgotten most of what I learned but the owner is used to newbies. Guess she just wanted us to take the class to prove that we would be cautious with her expensive machines.

Next up in the cooking order is some baking and Posole, a pork dish with hominy that is delicious and loaded with NM chilies. The house smells great when it’s cooking. It’s my KS son’s favorite dish so we have to make that! It’s best made in advance and eaten a day later so we’ll cook that on Sunday.

Tomorrow I’m going up with 2 friends to visit another friend in Asheville who is not doing well. She’s not the patient, her husband is, and he’s having a terrible time. She’s been in the hospital with him, barely leaving his side but never leaving the hospital, for 10 days. She’s a wreck so we’re going to see if we can talk to her and offer support and hugs in person for just the few minutes we hope she might give us. We’re bringing her a meal from her favorite restaurant in the hopes that she’ll eat something. It’s a tough situation for her. Very tough. She’s afraid hubby is going downhill.

ok. That’s more than enough. Didn’t mean to write all this!

Hope you have a pleasant weekend.

Janice sorry to hear about your friends dh, a very rough time

I found out today my 15 year old granddaughter was attacked by a dog my dd was dog watching. Medium size dog a real lover but they don’t know if she startled it or he just went crazy. One bite was near her lip, doc said she was so lucky a hair over and she could have had a lopsided smile, second bite was right next to a tear duck but missed again. The third was also on her face but I can’t remember where. But they couldn’t get the dog to let go.my dd said she totally panicked and was screaming louder than Stella was Thank goodness her 18 year old brother was home and he was able to kick him off her. You know how the face bleeds, they said blood was everywhere but had to leave it to take her to the hospital. This happened a couple weeks but my DD’s talked and decided not to tell me with all that was going on. I hate not knowing family things but believe they made the right choice this time. I would have totally freaked out. Can’t wait to see her and give her a big hug on Saturday when I’ll drive into the cities to bake cookies with them

Wow, Terriamn, what a scary situation with your DGD. Tough decision not to tell you right away but it seems to have been the right one. Hope DGD doesn’t develop a fear of dogs.

Janice they took her to a therapist who quietly talked to her about the trauma that ONE dog caused. My dd said Stella was very responsive but she has already seen her cringe every time a dog is near her. In my youth we had neighbors with a retired police dog they couldn't control. Never hurt us kids but it would jump the fence into our yard and try to mail our dog. It was horrible to see, to this day German shepherds totally scare me. I know longer go out of my way to avoid them but I sure as heck won’t be petting them. So I can only imagine how much more fearful she must be.

I think one more session of quilting will finish off the quilt today. Will have to use my smaller portable sewing machine for the binding but not expecting any problems with that

Then it’s time to bake the Hershey Kiss cookies and Mexican tea cakes. Will be baking more of the Hershey kiss cookies with the grands on Saturday as that is their favorite and sugar cookies. The chocolate crinkles, chocolate chip macaroons and my oldest grandsons favorite just plain old peanut butter cookies are made, This year is much easier since I’m only baking one batch instead of doubling them up and not making as many varieties. The house sure smells good.
