No no no you don't owe me any money. It was the block I was returning to you so the extra is on me. I am just going to take it to the postoffice and put the 20 cents on it then send it to you.

Thanks Beth, I thought you sent me one! I am losing my mind and spinning my wheels so fast... got a lot to get done by Friday! It is the deadline for mailing out Packages to arrive in time for Christmas. 90% of what we give for Christmas gets mailed, so I guess by Friday it is either in the mail or going to be late! Well we have 14 half filled boxes sitting around my sewing room and it will be a small miracle if everyone gets the right package!

Donna, I am so sorry about your friend, I know it has to be tough to lose someone that way! My prayers are with you, and I hope you have lots of good memories to make it past the tough times.

Jan, Thanks, I am currently high bidder on one on Ebay, I am really praying that if it is meant to be it will be... I hope that the other bidders don't notice that I am getting it for a song! The bid ends tomorrow around 8pm! My quilting GF says it is the best little machine around, they even used to use them in High Schools in Home EC. I know the machine I used was a singer but don't remember much else about it. I took 4 years of Home Ec and I loved it! Not the cooking part but the cooking class always used to give us free samples of what they made and we used to give them the Aprons and pot holders we made.

Linda/Brat, I am going to post some pictures, try to catch up on my blocks but I have already made several into place mats but will post the place mat pictures too. I feel like the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland! No time No Time... I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!!!!

I have the following listed as not received PLEASE CHECK AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU SENT ONE... savannahrandons, Mosher92, OK Darla, Linda58, Nancia, areinn.... I know I did a sort on my spreadsheet and had some names get mixed up so I could have made errors, and I was with out a camera for a month, but will try to catch up on the pictures!

Marybeth! OXYGEN is not over rated! try some! or did I detect caffeine on your breathe? I do not envy you getting things mailed such a rush would give me heart failure. I will cross fingers they all go out correctly especially if your sending training bras to say Uncle Jack instead of little Suzy. So double check!

I amwondering when we do make these into quilts do we put them in our folders or will there be a forum for completed boom quilts from all the groups? I just checked out the round robin. I had no idea what it was when I first read it but now walking through a few groups progress it is sinking in. It sounds like it could be fun. anyone here doing this event? I am planning on finishing this quilt right after Christmas. I want to make sure it gets to her before mid Feb and better to start whipping it together. If your blocks are say not all the same size how did you or do you solve this issue? I see a couple that are really much bigger say an inch than the 12.5 size.. I have several also about 11.5" those you can up with a sash I think but not sure. I am challenged with this stuff. help!

hey, brat, you pays your money, you takes your choice. most , i think, find the smallest block, and either trim everyone else down or as yous suggested, add a sashing. a big determinant to me is, will i lose points to seams moved in, or would i rather have one or two quietly framed? what are you imagining? there's your answer.

I think some are not watching the size of their blocks then. Remember they are to measure 12.5".

I generally take mine apart and resew if can to get the right size if they do not come in correctly. But if don't want to do that, sizing up is the better alternative as nancia said so you don't loose points. Now if my blocks are 12.25" to 12.75", I fudge them to the 12.5" so they all fit correctly. I did a BOM with Laura Heine in Billings, Montana, one year and she did the blocks on point and she made up this border angle sashing strip that allowed me to add widths to the sashing to frame my blocks so that way they all finished at the same size. Not sure if she sells it anymore but works great for aiding in getting blocks all the same size. The bad part of it was that you had a little waste on your strips if you did not cut them the width of the fabric versus selvage to selvage.

I made a really hard block one time and when it was done it was only a 10" one so I added a border around it and it really made it prettier than before the border! I hate to trim one down and lose the points also...sometimes it just doesnt come out to exactly 12.5" but most of the time you can adjust or add to get them to work in the quilts. I wish there was a link for "finished quilts" in Booms. I love seeing what everyone finishes!
People may not remember what you looked like or what you said but they will always remember how you made them feel!

This is the link to my albums for all Boom swaps.

They did that in the ornament swap where she put all the photos of the ornaments in one thread. Good question if Lovingisabella is able to do that. Hey Loving?

I made two sets of place mats, pictures in my album. I actually replaced all the pictures that were too large, my new camera takes pictures that are adjustable, but the quality is not that good! Oh well the price you pay! I got 9 packages mailed out today! I think next year I am going to send gift cards, after spending $52.64 on postage! But the worse is we are still not done!

I got my order from Joann's today! it only took 3 full weeks! what a drag that was, but now I am going to be able to finish a present that was put on hold!

    No new squishies today.

Marybeth we are nixing gift cards. If you dont purchase them at the store they are good in (ie say you buy them at the market?) there is a $5 per card sur charge on each one. I get the store wants to make a buck but five? sheesh. Glad you got your packages out. and didnt you say twelve packages so averaged out hey just like a gift card! but.. gift cards sure are much easier. I like gifting when it hits me vs when you feel you are obligated to. More spontaneous stuff works for me. I get this anxiety thing when I 'need' to finish by a deadline. Today is a high in the chest anxiety feeling. iw ill put the mystery train quilt together today. I hate pinning. I also have to start quilting as today and Sunday are my only days to quilt it and bind it as it goes to Sacramento on Monday. I prayed for its leaving here to be Tuesday but such is not the case so wish me luck everyone. gulp.

You can do it Brat, just relax while doing it. That is the key for me with my domestic machine. I also use either the fusible batting or KK200 glue spray form my embroidery. Works better than the Joanns quilting spray. Use less, sticks more. This way I also don't have to safety pin so much.

I have not had much luck with the fusible batting - it seems to not stick and turn into a rock-hard piece of fluff. I have started using Elmer's Glue spray with Warm & Natural. The spray washes out and it doesn't stink like so many others.

But I wonder, if you have such luck with the fusible, how are you doing it? Maybe (probably) I'm doing it wrong.

I received your block Melinda! Thank you. I will get your picture up tomorrow. I just picked up batteries the trick now however is to find the good spot I put them in. In the camera is not where they landed (argh).

I had a nuclear melt down with my mystery quilt so tomorrow I will tackle it again. I pinned the back, batting, top together and sewed one line. Perfect. second, bunching took out the long seam and redid it. Came out good. Did a third, no bunching decided to turn the whole quilt to look at the back .. realize I had pinned the back crooked. I had trimmed it pinned while on the floor. So its crooked and I cant fix it. I about fell over. I had pieced that back. it had stripes now it has 20 degree cut off whole back so its like leaning to two oclock. It looks dumb. I have no replacement back. So I will have to finish it this way. How horribly sad. Another lesson I forgot to remember. Double check the back always. dumb things I realize a day late and I KNEW THAT I forgot it. oh crud. things happen. Tomorrow is another day. sooner I finish that sooner I can move on

Don't feel too bad Linda, mine is still in pieces in my project drawer! I am going to make a commitment to finish all my UFQ's in 2013, the only thing that will be allowed to pull me off goal will be a paying job!

I counted and I have 43 unfinished Quilts! That is so pathetic! And the amount of money tied up in it is just unreal! So 2013 is the year I get most of them off my to do list!

I am listening to Dolphin football while I sew! OK I have to admit I love Football and really really wish I could say my team is a winning team... that is not the reality, the Phins are not doing well this year! URG... Not the end of the world by a long shot but I do enjoy a good game to get my mind off real troubles~

    Have a blessed Sunday~
