Down on the Farm Block Swap
#114
I haven't started the donkey yet. Instead,I think I've lost my senses because I decided to do another paper pieced block.
I made one rooster to test the pattern, and it turned out pretty good. I need to press it, add borders to get it to the right size, and make four more (that's tomorrow night though). The photo looks off because I had unplugged my iron while tearing off the paper, but it's actually pretty square already.

I love the rooster and all the blocks I've seen so far. I promise I will contribute pics soon.
I've been so crazy busy here in NC. My mom is visiting right now and I've spent every minute with her I can. I don't get to see her very often and I love having her with me.

Thanks, everyone I've been amazed that Jack the Ripper has only had to come out a few times to frog stitch some seams for me... I've watched a few more paper-piecing videos over the last weeks, and have finally got the hang of it I think (before I was wasting a ton of fabric, but now that I've got the technique down better, I am much better able to estimate the size/shape of fabric I need for each part.)
It may be a few weeks before I can do more blocks, but two sets of five are done, and I think (hope!) the other three sets will be less time consuming for me (although my donkey is still intimidating me a little, not quite sure why).
So, my last pic for a little bit-- five strutting roosters! I lost the top points on a couple of them, but I'll keep the "worst" one for myself. They are oversized with the border, so I'll trim them down, to 9 1/2 x 12 1/2, right before sending them on their way. Looking forward to seeing photos of everyone else's blocks!
