quiltymom-- i feel really bad for you! we're not that hot, gratefully! and the a/c is working just fine, 24/7. your situation sounds more like the tx summers we had. rarely rained, except what i used to call phantom rain. 15 minutes of downpour and 5 minutes later you couldn't tell it had rained. and long stretches of above 100 degrees. and i want to go back! go figure!! i wish you well, and a long slow rain to soak in and break the heat!

Nanciai, congrats on the new machine! I got a used Janome 10001 with all the extras, including stablizers of all types, and a box (big box) of embroydery thread and a dozen discs. I've only done a few things on it, embroydery wise, but absolutely love it! The embroidepry thread on this board refered to by K is great. It got so big, they started a new one. So there are now 2 of them.
K, sounds like you got one of the good ones, my dh used to help me tie my quilts back in "the day". He is still pretty good about helping with my machines, but i dont think i want him near my quilts! LOL
Cuppy, working on a couple (3) DQs right now, and at least 2 more in the seedling stage, could sprout any day, or may whither. Who knows. I get such inspiration here. Now I have to figure out which one will be coming to live at your house! I will be watching for some clues, hint hint!
I cannot explain just how much this board has influenced me. The talent here is so inspiring, and the members are so encouraging and helpful. I notice one huge change that is astronomical. For instance. I just ripped out a bunch of stitching from the current dq I am working on. This is about the 3rd time. The old "me" would have thrown it in the ufo box the first time. And this last time, well if I was keeping it, I'd have just left it the way it was. It really wasn't a big deal to rip it out, (did I REALLY just say that?) And I Am so happy I did. This board, the members, and involvement in the swaps has pushed me to achieve a new level of pride in and respect for the work I do. Thank you everyone!

Buslady, what a wonderful post. Your sentiment really sums up what this is all about. That and the wonderful fellowship we find here. Thank you for expressing it.
As for my wonderful DH ... it was either make sachets or pull weeds in the heat. I think he chose wisely.

Wow I can't believe the heat wave everyone is having. I sit here in Southern CAl with delightful cool temps that are just comfortable. No AC needed. But I do feel for all of you with no electricity and heat to boot. I would be so miserable and not having electricity means you can't sew except by hand. Well I guess reading could help. I would need something to distract me from the heat.

I have been 70 miles south of Montreal, Quebec for the last 3 weeks. It has been beautiful here! The first week's temps were high but the last two have been gorgeous! We had a family get together today and just relaxed in the gazebo as we enjoyed a nice cooling breeze. I was almost cold.. My poor hubby is down in TN sweating his buns off.
I haven't gotten much quilting done but I have made six lined drapery panels for my daughter. I have two more to do and one half circle window treatment to make. Then I can quilt
Tomorrow I go to the quilt shop with my oldest daughter. It is a tradition for us to visit this particular quilt shop while I am here visiting.

We are back from camping~ Thunder storms sent us home a day early. I am almost done with my quilt, will post pic when I unload truck from camping! Wow how do we manage to bring back so much laundry! Had a Great Weekend with my Daughter and Granddaughter! She is 2 1/2 and I am so amazed at how much she grows each time I see her. She is talking really well now~ Thank goodness for Skype and vacations!

Have a great one everyone!

I am having such an awful problem seeing images today. I use Chrome as my default browser and sometimes I actually have to restart my computer to see pix. So ... see you after the reboot.
