why yes zoeytoo it really did happen and I still laugh about the sucking noise on a daily basis! Some day I'll have to tell you about the time I was flipped out of a car, or the time a lovely little old lady ran me over on purpose, or the time I was tackled by an entire football team on the sidelines of a football game or the time I got a wire hanger caught in my nose I could go on and on but I'll stop here.
( i have my own collection of hospital bands ) LOL I have had a lot of sadness in my life and I have learned to always always laugh now and especially at myself. (you should have seen my hair its long to my knees and it was a muddy mess.)

grann of 6 wow =we really do have a lot in common I have a designer se also! I went from a treadle to the se and it was a real culture shock!

I'm humming along to songs i have never heard of before but an loving them.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

Crazy family checking in here! My sister-in-law will eat 20 minutes before she gets to our house (after a 7 hour drive) saying, "The kids just couldn't wait." The kids are in their 20s and always look at her like she's nuts. Then she'll spend the whole time in a room by herself with the door closed.

I always say it's a good thin my family can't get along. There's so many of us, that if we ever all agreed on anything we could take over a small country!

For those who are facing the dreaded relatives... May you be a duck this holiday season and let it all roll off your back!

@Zooeytoo - Dan Fogelburg "Another Auld Lang Syne"

Met my old lover in a grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
Stole behind her in the frozen foods
and I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
but then her eyes flew open wide
Tried to hug me and she spilled her purse
and we laughed until we cried
Took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totaled up and bagged
stood there lost in our embarrassment
as the conversation dragged
Went to have ourselves a drink or two
but couldn't find an open bar
Bought a six-pack at the liquor store
and we drank it in the car
We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to now
Tried to reach beyond the emptiness but neither one knew how
She said she'd married her an architect
Kept her warm and safe and dry
She said she'd like to say she loved the man
but she didn't want to lie
I said the years had been a friend to her
and that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I saw doubt or gratitude
She said she saw me in the record store
and that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
but the traveling was hell
We drank a toast to innocence we drank a toast to time
We're living in our eloquence, another old lang syne
The beers were empty and our tongues grew tired
and running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
and I watched her drive away
Just for a moment I was back in school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
the snow turned into rain...

Oh, I LOVE my Dan Fogelburg album. I miss having him around. That song always reminds me of going to my mother's funeral, and my old boyfriend was there. I introduced him to my husband, and the whole time I am thinking to myself, "Am I ever glad I didn't stick with that one; he never grew up, was just as childish as he was at 20." My husband later asked me, "And how long did you date him????" I could tell he was thinking the same thing I was.

Well, my dentist appt got moved to tomorrow afternoon, so I am making cookies. I have 4 batches of gingerbread made and chilling for the houses to be baked this evening and/or tomorrow morning. Made a batch of sour cream cookies shaped like snowflakes and sprinkled with blue & white coarse sugar. Am presently waiting for my butter to warm up for some cookie swirls of red/yellow/ green, and also a batch of peanut blossoms. I will unwrap the kisses while I sit here reading all the posts.

I guess they are pretty yummy. I don't eat many cookies, except the macaroons. I don't eat chocolate, but I give cookies to the mail carrier, the trashmen, and will take a big plate up to the post office for all to enjoy. This is a small community with only 8000 people in the whole mailing area, so I figure they will enjoy having them to munch on while sorting the mail.
