I'm estimating 18x24 or so. It is the bonus room above our 2 car garage. My dh re-did it for me this past July, after our youngest dd graduated from high school. It is the perfect size; my dream sewing room! I never want to move again! I have an area with a couch and chair for visitors and just simply relaxing. I have a spot for 7 machines and a quilting table. I also have a cutting table that is the perfect height for me (it used to be our kitchen bar). And there is a walk in closet for all of my sewing/xstitch/soapmaking supplies!

I think the too-small room is 10 x 10, with the folding doors taken off the closet and my serger table set in there. I also claimed half the large laundry room, for craft and book storage, and can leave the ironing board set up in there.

I am moving to a new house. The place I will use for sewing already has a large “L” of counter space that I can use to spread out projects and place my sewing table and machine next to at the same height. I will need to have storage in other parts of the house.

My dream is to convert the two car studio (lots of electric outlets but no heat) and redone on outside to look like a cottage with french doors into a central heated space. Even though I will use it as a studio, I do want a full bath with a soaking tub and a loft bedroom so I can use it for my friends when they stay over.

Anyway, I don’t think that will happen soon but I am looking forward to having a larger space than what I have now. It is an open floor plan so I will need to keep things tidy but I like that there is a TV built in so I can watch shows. Also, a kitchenette so I can grab a snack or tea without going upstairs. I think I will use it as a cave.

My sewing studio is 350 sq. ft. Because it is on a cement foundation I had a cushioned vinyl floor installed and my legs and feet never get tired or sore.

I took over a sunroom addition that is probably 30 feet by 20 a couple years ago 🤩. Of course all good things come to an end and I’m moving in a couple of months into a smaller place. 😩. I am going to have to rethink configuration into a small bedroom. Yikes!

We have just put in an offer on a wee house. I may end up with a sewing room of 7' x 7' But we are Snow birds right now and if I can make it work in a 36' Motor Home then surely i can make it work there also. Mind you I did do some of my bigger things at the quilting group I found, they had long tables and big ironing boards, and big design walls. Ah well.

What ever you decide, double it! You probably need a minimum space of 14 x 8 just for a long arm, but that depends on what size frame and harp you get. The 14' x 8' assumes a 10 foot wide frame and about 4 feet deep, plus a couple of feet to walk around the frame.

We built a 4200 sq ft hse and my studio is over the 3 car garage so my rm is 33x25....Always wanted a studio since I was working out of a 12x13 rm in other hse forever!...Watch what your dream is...sometimes Big is too Big....I have many reg machines some new/some vintage....But you can only use one machine at a time. Then there's all that walking to cut, iron, lay out and sew...And finding where you put things...A yr is coming up and I'm still not settled or organized and have lost the incentive to quilt...We still have the other hse and we go bk and forth mthly and my incentive returns and I enjoy getting back into my small sewing rm...WEIRD RIGHT!
