Sally, there are lots of background options....many are being used in this group sew a long...a couple of cremes, muslin, red, teal, turquoise, olive, purple, lemon....LOL...there is going to be a rainbow of backgrounds in our AOTH gallery!

Each person is using the type of applique they like best. So some are machine stitched. I am needle turning mine. everyone can use their favourite method.
