Can you keep a secret?......

You know you will be making more quilts for this darling baby as he/she grows, so what about something like this: "To our firstborn grandchild who is still unknown to us...." or "As you grow, unknown to us..." or "Made as you quietly grow" or something sentimental like that. I think that would be really special.

I can keep a secret! It's a beautiful quilt! Your DD will love it for her first Mother to be Day. What a thoughtful gift for her! Your label can say, "Made with love by Grandma ________" or something like that. Congratulations!!! As the grandma of 13...that is nothing like a grandchild!

Beautiful quilt and beautiful idea.
She has shared the news with you, so she is as excited as you are and does not appear to be superstitious about it. Perhaps leave room on the quilt to add the label later.
I made a quilt for our first grandchild and gave it to my daughter before the baby was born - added the label later. Everything turned out beautifully, and she is a freshman in college.

No offense meant to anyone but as someone who had 6 miscarriages and a stillbirth, I have to disagree about not giving something before the baby is born. I had baby clothes given to me that I clung to and if I had had a quilt, it would have helped me so much and it would have been precious to me. As it was, the things I had were passed onto my first child. It is natural to give gifts before a baby is born, especially from Grammas, so I think you should celebrate the joy of the anticipation of this wonderful event without thinking, "Oh, maybe this baby won't survive." Be positive and enjoy being a pre-Gramma and just have a ball planning. This time you share with your children will be long-remembered. Just my opinion.
