That's one very well-aged project, aged to perfection, I'd say! I'm so inspired that you completed it...I've got one or two that aren't quite so "historical" (lol), perhaps there's hope for them someday. My DGM did one of these many moons ago...she called it "Marbles"...kids were crazy for them, collecting, buying, swappin', tradin', winnin', losin'...my Dad was quite the shooter! Thanks for reminding me of this memory...and for sharing your marbles!

Isn't the pattern the drunkards path. It's a very versatile pattern.

Do the centers have extra batting to make them puffy, or is it just the lack of quilting that makes them stand out?

That's beautiful! If you hadn't explained the story, I would have sworn I saw it in a quilt calendar!

The pattern is called drunkard's path. I just took a workshop on it this weekend to learn how to do it. How did you get those curves to fit together as well as you did? I was about driving myself nuts trying to do it the right way. Any advice will be gratefully received!

in the beginning, i was notching centers and pinning, pinning, pinning. then i graduated to only three pins. eventually, no notching and no pinning. i could ease the pieces to fit each other with no pins. i still went nuts. i'll wait a while before i do curves again.

I got DP templates a little while ago but haven't been brave enough to try them yet! In the instructions it says either pin or ease round as you sew with the 'outy' on top. Which would you say is easiest - or rather, 'less difficult'? I don't usually pin stuff except borders and seams at intersections; I guess I have to play around and see what works best for me! Answered my own question! Just wondered if you had any tips. ;-) :-D
