i'd break the set apart and use maybe 3 or 4 very traditional blocks, then i'm thinking to make a winding path of flying geese out of very vibrant colors. the path would go from lower left corner to upper right corner - basically a freeform curve of flying geese.
along the path i envision off ramps of flying geese that will circle around each of the 3 or 4 traditional black & white blocks.
i'll call the quilt "The Road to Tradition"
maybe i'll make 3 quilts like this - i'll keep one for me and then raffle off the other 2 tops to the people who were a member of the B&W swap.
what do you guys think about this idea?
What a lovely idea. I can almost picture that quilt in my mind. I can't wait to see all the creative ideas everyone comes up with.

Thank you all for your comments.
Here is another quilt top that my cat, Tabitha, and I finished today for my oldest son. Tabitha thought she would pull a sneaky one and hide under the top and catch a few zzzzz's. She was so surprised when her head popped up in the middle. I just had to laugh and snap a picture of her. EllenK
