It must feel wonderful to have something that your grandmother made.

The quilt in my avatar was hand pieced by my husband's great grandmother. It took me two years to hand quilt it, but I enjoyed it and am really glad I did it that way. (It's what inspired me to become a quilter!)

The quilt top from your great grandmother is beautiful - I love stars! It would be fun to hand quilt it.

What a wonderful gift. I'm not a hand quilter, but if I received a family treasure like that I would also want to hand quilt it.

I love it! I have a quilt top (now quilted) that my grandmother made in the late 1930's, early 1940's. I was cleaning out my Moms' closet with her 'supervision', and unpacked it. She said she didn't know what to do with it, who to give it to since neither my sister or I quilted at the time. I said "I'll take it! And I'll get it quilted."

It started me on the path to quilting addiction...

Enjoy the quilt.

I LOVE your Great Grandmother's color choices. Good, solid, bold - - the best! <wave>

actually, I have a question about your quilt top.
Did your Great Grandmother hand stitch it?
If so, what is the common seam allowance she used?
The reason I am asking is because I have a friend who showed up with some blocks (I think they are called Seven Sisters - - something similar to your Great Grandmother's block) ... the blocks are handstitched, and it looks to me that the seam allowances are a bit bigger than 1/8th inch!
I am pondering whether to just go ahead and join them by hand or trying it on the machine ... the other alternative is to mount them on muslin with heat tape and top stitching ... <wave>
