    A narrow binding of one of the colors you have used won't take away from the checkerboard. It is beautiful.

    I would sew the backing to the front and then turn it. No binding all you would see is the checkerboard. OR, you could just use white as the binding which wouldn't take away from the binding. Jan

    Another border it is! I will make it 2" finished size out of the same fabric I used for the background. Thanks everyone! I will post another picture when it is done.

    I would make the binding a solid color. Depending if the baby is a girl or a boy, if you don't know you can use green or purple.
    This way the binding serves like a frame on a picture, to stop your eye from traveling off the quilt. Not taking away from your checkerboard border.
