Very pretty, and i like the checkerboard border! I agree with others - just do a narrow binding that won't compete with the quilt. Great job!!

Don't worry about the binding. The normal 1/4 inch binding in the same fabric for the whole binding will show little. Audition and see what color doesn't show up a lot. Maybe because of the light in the checkerboard, a lighter color. You can also consider that the binding is going to frame that checkerboard and just act as a small border.

If it were me I'd sew a 2" white border and then bind it in the same or pick one of the pastels in your quilt and do the same that way you wouldn't lose the cute checker board border. It's a cute baby quilt. I really like it.

    Or checkerboard the binding too?

p.s. very nice quilt! Pretty colors that fit the pattern well.
I agree with bringing the whole binding to the back like a facing or do the pillowcase method with the backing.

I love the idea of the signature quilt for those who are in the military and far away... I agree with the folks who recommended a very narrow binding of one of the pastel colors.. not white though (gets dirty tooo fast) or you could put a very narrow white border 2 or 2.5 inch border then put your pastel binding on...!!
Hugs and best wishes on the new grandbaby ..when is the baby due??
    Congrats!

Thanks Quiltinmama! This will be our first grandchild, so we are super excited. My son will be in Germany for another couple of years, so we are disappointed that we wont be able to see her grow up day by day until they return, but it is what it is and you make the best of it , right? Anyway, our little girl is due July 21. Lots of prayers for them please- she will be having open heart surgery right after birth for a major heart defect...scary stuff.
