"Inner Beauty" My Turning Twenty headed for Asia

When the daughter of a friend of mine told us she will be moving to Asia this summer I was shocked, to say the least. She has always seemed to me to be a rather spoiled, self absorbed young woman who was all about glitz & glam. You know, rather "shallow". To see her mature from that to someone who will be putting the needs of others ahead of her own is truly amazing. To send her off (she will have room to take this with her, as her mom says she can carry it on the plane with her), I made her a Turning 20 quilt and named it in Chinese lettering "Inner Beauty", as she has morphed into this beautiful young woman who isn't only beautiful on the outside but beautiful on the inside. I used the "Matsuri" collection from Connecting Threads. It is so soft & delicious looking (in my humble opinion). We get to give it to her this Sunday at her going away party. Because it's going to be very hard on her mom I have made her a mug rug out of the scraps from Chel's quilt and have a cup and tea insert that I bought in China years ago to set on it. They are very sentimental people so I think these gifts are a perfect match! :-)

Beautiful fabric = beautiful result! I want to see the mug rug too. And though I love your signature label - I think your name should come first as you are the one that made it!

Your quilt is beautiful. I just finished a kit from the same CT Matsuri line. I loved working with the cotton lawn. Will post after it's quilted.

Thanks for the compliment! As for the label- I always felt like our names rolled better that way & since he does help me lay it out & gives opinions Lol! I didn't mind putting his name 1st. ;-) but I'll reconsider. I'll post the mug rug & tea cup in a few minutes. Didn't even think about it this morning.

Thanks! I'll be anxious to see yours. I'm getting ready to do another one in batiks from CT. I hope it turns out as nice.

I looked at that line in CT & wondered if it was nice (too thin?). It looks fabulous in this quilt... so soft, seren & dreamy. This is a great gift & you're a doll to make this for this lovely lady. Thanks for showing us!

I thought at first the fat qtrs were thin. Then after I finished it with warm & natural batting & a nice cotton backing- then washed it- it became so soft & lovely. I'm very happy with my choice of fabric.
