Beautiful quilt! I've often used different size borders on my quilts. Sometimes the sides are larger, others the top and bottom are larger. I sometimes will do a 3" border on the left and bottom and a 6" border on the right and top. My quilt, my choice...so you get to choose for your quilts!!! Your quilt is fabulous and I know you'll make the perfect choice after you do the auditioning Glassquilt talked about!

Yes, you can do that. Your quilt, your rules.
Audition the borders you want (pin them in place), step back and take a look.
Walk away. Go shopping. Go to work. When you return take another look.
No rush. Think about it until you're happy.

Quilt looks beautiful.

I agree totally and couldn't have said it better. Your first quilt is gorgeous and can't wait to see it quilted.

Thank you - thank you all for all the suggestions and compliments.I went with what most of you suggested and what I felt in my gut would look best....adding more blocks to the sides. I guess I felt reluctant to start working on 12 more blocks. But that's exactly what I did yesterday/last night and I actually enjoyed doing them. I think that was because I had a two week break since the retreat where I worked on them night and day. They are all done and pinned into my two rows....ready to go. Have a family reunion to go to today but hopefully I'll get them sewn together and put on tonight and then make up my mind about a border.

I will keep you updated and thanks again for all your help.

Pat

Nicely done!
I like this idea as well.

Are you sure this is your first quilt? You did a wonderful job. No matter which boarder way you choose you won't take away from the beauty of this quilt. I can't imagine what your second quilt will look like.:)
