I can remember hanging out diapers in the snow, they would be stiff before I finished, but dried up nice and fresh. I had a long stick with a "Y" dut at one end that you hooked the line on and pushed it up to keep the clothes that were long from touching the groound. worked like a charm. your post brought back some good and some funny memories. thanks for sharing.

I miss mine :( At my new house I have several drying racks- which are always full - and put things out on the screened back porch. Also the past two years we have had lots of stink bugs which were imported to eat the Asian lady bugs that got into the country. I sure would hate to see my clothes covered with those!

We hang out our clothes as often as the weather permits. To crawl into bed made with line dried sheets is one of life's little pleasures. The savings are noticed on our energy bill, it is a win win. Your husband did a beautiful job and the quilt is gorgeous.

Cool, Love a clothes line, everything smells so great ;) However living on dirt her in dusty Ca and the daily wind it is not possible.. enjoy ;)
I can smell the freshness from here.

We went out to the Amish in our area and purchased the wheels and the lines and the hold up brackets.
I have tried so many green clothes lines that end up stretching. Yesterday I was able to put 4 loads on the line and have it go up above our "chicken pasture". the ladder they used is still up by the Elm tree, I'm nervous a raccoon will climb up one side and down inside the pasture.
Its a great way to hang my quilts too.
The cost of the wheels and 75' of line, brackets was nearly $130, but gas for the dryer I'm sure it will balance out quickly.
Not sure you could find these on line, but he orders it somewhere.
Now if I only had diapers to hang again, NOT!
